I'm not the only one to have this happen to them, but Sims 2 Castaway, while being a good RPG style sims game, has a horrible problem with freezing and causing you to reclaim all your lost data, again and again.
I know I'll be returning my copy. I've lost my data one too many times...

yea its getting bull everytime someothing good happens my psp freezes and kinda shuts off

ive had that problem too, my sims freezes then turns off the console, my mums exchanged the game so im going to see if it does it again.
The guy at the shop said it could be a Malaware problem with the console, but it still works with all otehr games fine and ive only had it since the 25th lol

And it happens to at least 3 people here

Just make sure you save after so long. It is bugging but at least you don't lose any data!

The PSP goes to sleep after a while, untouched.

The same thing happened to me on my Psp Slim and Lite I bought my Sims game from play.com and they have issued me a refund,I then went and bought another copy from HMV and the same problem of freezing arises.I then phoned the EA Hotline and they said that they are going to look into it.

I got all the way up to the second island and my game froze. I had to start again. But recently the problem has gone away since I got a Slim & Lite.

^^ Higher CPU speed, maybe running this on a new firmware (3.70+) or jacking up the speed with homebrew on a phat would make the freezing stop...

I am having the same problem.UGH!! This is the only game that causes this problem with my psp. I have exchanged my game. And after a few days of playing it, it will do the exact same thing. It is very frustrating. I didn't spend $40 on this game to not be able to complete it. I have bought a new 2 gig memory card, thinking that this would fix the problem. I thought maybe there was not enough memory. And it still freezes. Does anyone know was software version is required to play this game? I am wondering if that it the problem. Also, how do you update the software on the psp? I have only had my psp since September 2007. And it was brand new when I got it. (It came with the Daxter game). And like I said before, this is the ONLY game that does this. Also, it is not just that psp is powering off to save the battery (like was said in a previous post) Here recently I am only able to play my game maybe 5 minutes before it freezes. If anyone can help me, it would be greatly appreciated. I am to the point where I want to trash my game and never buy an ea game again for my psp. I really don't want it to get to that point!!!

Take it back and get your money back. It's a game issue that doesn't seem to be able to be fixed.
