Hungary - Lets go to Budapest

~Breaking News~

We have just received some breaking news here as the Bolivian Police have raided a home in central La Paz. Early reports coming in suggest the raid may of took place at the home of Bolivian football manager Erwin Sanchez. The raid took place around five o'clock this morning and speculation is that Mr Sanchez was involved in trafficking drugs in from Brazil. The former Bolvian international was the first ever Bolivian player to play in Europe when he joined Benfica in 1990 as well as that he made 58 appearances for his country scoring 16 goals in the process and is widely recognized as one of the best ever player to come out the South American country. But after this recent incident many are questioning what will happen to him and Bolviain football from here.

7 Hours later ......

After the shocking news we had this morning the Federación Boliviana de Fútbol and the police have both released statements in a joint press conference in which Questions were not permitted .

quote Police Statement
We can confirm that at 5am this morning we arrested two men on suspicion of smuggling drugs into the country from Brazil. The two men involved are Erwin Sanchez and Hugo Estenssoro. We are currently questioning the pair in their involvement in the smuggling and will be charging the pair in the coming days. The crime committed is serious so Bale has been set at 7,578,022 BOB (£500,000). At the moment both men are being held at a secret location and they will be appearing in court in the next two months.
quote Bolivian FA
After the shocking and disgraceful news which has developed today we have terminated Erwin Sanchez's contract with immediate effect. This is a dark day in the history of Bolvian football, but with time we believe the we will bounce back better than ever. Search for a new manager will start with immediate effect and no matter how long it takes will find one who's ambitions match ours and obviously the Bolvian people.

re: Hungary - Lets go to Budapest

Its been two months since that dark day in Bolivian football when Ex-Bolivian manager Erwin Sanchez was arrested in a raid off his home on suspension of drug smuggling. Since then though the court case has been on everyone's lips and two weeks a go he was sentenced to 16 years in jail after it turned out he was the boss of a large gang and was smuggling thousands of pounds worth of drugs every month.

But today the Bolivian Fa have announced that they have found and hired the new manger of the International side, they have also announced that a official press conference will be held later today. The favourites to succeed the disgraced Erwin Sanchez is 50 year old Erwin Romero, 47 year old Carlos Fernando Borja and 48 year old José Milton Melgar.

2 hours late ....

Hello and welcome we are here to announce the new manager of the Bolivian national football team. The person we have chosen has made a record 94 caps for the international side in 16 years. The man we have chosen was not a favorite for the job but we believe he has the skills to take the national side to a level which matches our neighbours, the man we have chosen is Luis Héctor Cristaldo Ruiz Díaz. The room went silent as Crstaldo walked into to take his seat and started to speak.

quote Luis Héctor Cristaldo Ruiz Díaz
This is a great honour for me and my family to be able to accept this job. The expectations me and the board have are very similar. We both believe that as well as trying to qualify for our first World Cup since 1994 we need to start building for the future. We are currently placed 84th in the world rankings i believe that is a big underachievement for a all the players we have in the squad. So my first task is to try and get the team up the rankings and try and qualify for the 2010 world cup in South Africa.

Next update will be a summary of the team
feel free to C+C

Pre-Match

This is Luis Hector Cristaldo's first match in charge of Bolvia and they welcome Guatemala to Hernando Siles in the capital La Paz. Guatemala are ranked 38 places above Bolvia in the world rankings in 50th and are touted as slight favourites for what is predicted to be a tight match. This is the third time these teams have met with Guatemala holding the upper hand winning the last two of the three matches, the last of which was in 2004. After this match Bolvia face Ivory Coast as they start to prepare for the Qulification Campaign for the 2010 world cup in South Africa.

- 4 Min - Bolvia - De Leon Intercepts a poor clearance from the goalkeeper and unselfishly he plays a cross ball to Marcelo Moreno who tapped into a empty net

- 13 min - Bolivia - Guatemala are awarded a free kick and in the aftermath Bolvia's Edgardo Olivares shoves Figuero and is given a yellow card

- 13 min - Guatelmala - Edwin De Leon grabs a hold of Bolivia's Cabrera shirt and is shown a yellow card

- 33 min - Guatelmala - Equliser as Guatelmala win a corner after a superb flowing move, the out swinging corner is taken by Ibarra and a unmarked De Leon heads into the back of the net

- 54 min - Guatelmala - Fredy Thompsan earns himself a yellow card after he trips Juan Arce in the center circle

- 87 min - Bolivia -Cardozo beats two players on the wing, he cuts the ball back to Lima he plays a one-two with Arce who carries on his run Lima spots him in the area and Arce slides the ball past the keeper

- 88 min - Guatelmala - Marroquin collects the ball on the wing but he is upended by Ruiz who gets a deserved yellow card

- 90 min - A last gasp attack by Guatelmala starts with Oscar Morales on the wing who's cross finds Ruiz who makes himself some space and put the ball into the back of the net

Post Match

Guatemala were expected to get the win here but it has ended in a draw. Overall the result was fair as both teams were pretty evenly matched. Ruiz takes the man of the match award with his late equalizer and general hard work for the whole match. The best Bolvian player was young 20 year old starlet Marcelo Moreno who made his first appearance for his country and got a goal in the progress

Real nice match layout there, it's impressive. Unlucky on the result, those last minute goals are always the worst.

Pre-Match

A tough test for Bolivia here as they face the African giants Ivory Coast who currently lie 17th in the world rankings. This is the first time these teams have ever met and it's the visitors who are the favourites according to the bookies. This is also Luis Hector Cristaldo's last chance to get his team right before they begin their qualification for the World cup against Brazil.

- Bolivia - Olivares receives a pass to his feet in the center circle, he swivels on the ball and feeds the ball right to Gutierrez who runs with it and then curls one in to the net from all of 25 yards

- Ivory Coast - Boka takes a corner which is headed straight out by Raldes, Romaric takes the corner this time and its met by Kolo Toure who beats Pena in the air to head it in.

- Boliva - Gutierrez pulls back Romaric just inside the Bolvian half and gets handed a yellow card

- Ivory Coast - Gutierrez challenges Meite well in the area and Ivory Coast earn a corner. Boka sends a out-swinging ball into the box which is headed into the net unchallenged by Kalou

- Bolivia - Pizzaro's throw-in finds Jaime Moreno in Ivory Coast half, he takes the ball past Boka on the wing and his low cross some how finds it way into the back of the net

- Bolivia - Yellow card for Raldes after he intentionally trips Kalou to end his progress down the wing

- Bolivia - Yaya Toure up-ends Justiniano on the edge, Justiniano picks himself to take the free kick and his shot is deflected off the wall and goes in via the crossbar

- Ivory Coast - A corner for the Elephants in the dieing seconds the goalkeeper joins the attack as they look for a equalizer, Tiene takes the corner which is met by Eboue who heads across goal but the ball cannons off the cross bar but Akale pounces on the rebound and with a low drive scores a late equaliser

Post Match

Ivory Coast were favourites to win this match but to be fair they barely deserved to draw as Bolvia dominated for long periods of the match. This was the second match in a row Bolvia had victory snatched from them in the dieing minutes, but their form has been promising and many people are touting them as the dark horses that could cause a few upsets in the upcoming world cup qualifiers. Kolo Toure took the man of the match award as he scored and created a goal to save the Elephants blushes

World cup Qualifier - Game One

Bolvia World Ranking - 88th

VS

Pre-Match

A near impossible task here as Luis Cristaldo leads his side out in their first game in these World Cup Qualifiers against the team ranked number one in the world Brazil. With a team boasting world class players in pretty much every position Bolvia have been written off from the outset, with many believing that they will need a miracle to get anything from this match. This is the 47 meeting between these side and out of those Bovia have only been victorious four time the last of which was in 2004 when they won 3-1 in a World cup Qualifier.

- Brazil - The Canarinho win a throw in deep in the Bolvian half which is taken by Ronaldinho, he finds Luis Fabanio who runs into the six yard box and clips a ball to Robinho free at the far post and he heads into a empty net

- Brazil - Brazil earn a free kick 30 yards out after Jaime Cardozo upends Fabanio, Ronaldinho lines up a shot, he shoots and it goes in for a brilliant Goal.

- Brazil - Adriano's cross is headed out by Raldes but it goes straight to Elano who runs unopposed towards the penalty area and tries a curling shot which takes a huge deflection of Pena and goes in for a own goal

Post Match

A Tale of two half's for Bolvia as they managed to outplay Brazil in the first half but couldn't make a break through and were made to pay in the second half as Brazil took control and put three past them. This definatly shows the difference between the two sides and that if Bolvia are to have any chance of making it to the 2010 world cup in South Africa than they will have to start converting some of their chances.

Only 3-0 against Brazil is still a good result, I like this, good easy to read, new layout, however where it says "table" when I click the thumbnail for that, I get the Breazil Boliva result again, not the table

So moved from India to Bolivia eh?

You tend to have a streak of originality over you when it comes to choosing a team to manage.

I like the presentations, it looks neat, the info is good as well and I'm sure the results will go your way as well in the long run. I remember you had quite a tough start at India as well.

Wednesday October 2007

World cup Qualifier - Game Dos(Two)

Bolvia World Ranking - 88th

VS

Pre-Match

Ecuador travelled to the Bolivian capital of La Paz on the back of a 2-1 loss to Peru. Bolivia also come into this match on the back of a defeat as they lost 3-0 to Brazil a few days a go. Bolivia are being back as favorites in this match because of their home advantage, with many people thinking a draw is just as likely. A few Bolivian papers have noted that if Hector Cristaldo's team are to have any chance of making it to the 2010 World Cup then they must beat the sides who are a similar strength themselves like Ecuador. This will be the 20th meeting of these teams with Bolivia's last win coming 11 years in a World Cup Qualifier.

- Ecuador - Salas picks up a lose ball in the center of the park, he looks up and picks out Benitez free with a great through ball he runs on to it and bears down on goal, he looks certain to score and he does as he rounds the keeper and places the ball in the empty net. Some of the Bolvian players head to the assistant protesting that he was offside but he waves away the protest as replays reveal he was well onside

- Bolvia - La Verde hit back straight away as Guiterrez plays a quick ball to Moreno who passes to Garcia, he holds the ball up then plays a long ball to Guiterrez who flicks the ball on to Moreno, he charges into the box and curls the ball into the roof of the net from a tight angle for a equalizer

- Bolivia - Sala's runs down the wing he skips past Mercado who then grabs his shirt and Mr Ribo's shows him a yellow card

- Ecuador - Moreno holds the ball up just outside the Penalty area and is backing into Ceicaldo who pushes him over and gets a yellow card

- Bolivia - Guiterrez cross's into the box but its headed out by Mendez, Guiterrez takes a quick corner short to Moreno who crosses into the box Cabera rises bravely at the far post heads in to give Bolivia the lead

- Bolivia - Medez picks the ball up in the center circle he turns Guiterrez but he grabs a handful of his shirt and Mr Ribo's once again shows a yellow card

- Bolivia - A long ball is played up from the Bolivian defence straight to Olivares, who gains a advantage by pushing Quinonez out the way of the ball and he becomes the third Bolivian player to be given a caution

Post Match

Bolivia grounded out a result here as they came from a goal behind to beat Ecuador for the first time in 11 years. Once again the Bolivian fans had Marcelo Moreno to thank for the victory as the 20 year old from Santa Cruz De La Sierra showed why he is regarded as the best player to come from the country in the last 10 years. In his fledgling international career he has made seven appearance for his country, scored four goals and earned a man of the match award in the progress.

re: Hungary - Lets go to Budapest

Saturday 17th November 2007

World cup Qualifier - Game Three

Bolvia World Ranking - 72nd

VS

Pre-Match

Bolivia travel to the Pueblo Nuevo in Venezula as slight favourites on the back of a hard fought victory against Ecuador. On the other hand Venezula come into this match losing their last two matches both against the two best teams in South America Argentina and Brazil. This will be the twenty-third meetings of these teams with Bolivia winning the last match 3-1 in 2005.

- Bolivia - Olivares turns on the skillfully and passes down the line to Gutirrez, he runs down the line and sends a wicked cross into the box. it lands at Moreno's feet he swivels on the ball, shoots and scores.

- Bolivia - Cichero clears the ball for Venezula, but it goes straight to Justiniano he runs forward and shoots with a low hard drive and it takes a big deflection off Vizcarrondo and hits the back of the net from 25 yards out.

- Bolivia - Gutirrez's cross is headed out for a corner by Vielma, Gutirrez takes the corner and its met by Cabrera at the near post and he heads in

- Bolivia - Chaurant is tripped inside his own half by Justiniano who earns a yellow card for his troubles

- Venezula - Bolivia win a free kick in the center circle, its taken by Raldes who pass it short to Pena who is pushed to the ground by Maldona and he goes into the book

- Bolivia - Juan Arango is tripped on the wing by Gutirrez and he becomes the third person in the book

- Bolivia - Gutirrez plays a great through ball to Moreno who breaks past the Venezula defence and with only the goalie to beat he unselfishly lays up Jose Castillo for a easy tap in

- Bolivia - Olivares picks up the ball on the half way line he takes the ball past two defenders before playing a great through ball to Gutirrez on the wing, he crosses the ball in and its met by Castello who powers in a header

- Bolivia - Garcia passes to Cardozo he plays a first time pass to the right to Mercado on the right, the Venezulan player back off him and he plays a pin point pass to Castello who heads in his hat-rick

Post Match

Bolivia took Venezula apart in this match as they put a amazing six past them. Bolivia showed what they can do when they are at the absolute best and if they can perform like that consistently their is no reason why they shouldn't be going to South Africa in 2010. Half time substitute obliviously got the man of the match award with his ten minute hat-rick, but behind the scenes it was Gutirrez who was the main man as he ran the midfield with his vision of passing and his quick closing down of the opposition.
