The older I get, the less I like online multiplayer

I still like it but on games like halo I do more custom games.

That's sort of true for me now, but I imagine once Halo 4 comes out, I'll be back to my old ways. Currently, the only multiplayer action I get is with friends on Halo: Reach. I've been digging the ME3 multiplayer a bit as well, though that's cooperative and has a pretty mature fan base.

I completely understand. I love playing games with others, but in many cases, online gaming isnt much fun. The environment is far too competitive to be fun in most cases. I'm always looking for friendly people to play with, but more and more, I find myself avoiding online play for any game I'm not REALLY good at.

More recently, I find myself playing more "couch co-op" games. Having a friend over for an afternoon of Borderlands, Gears of War, RAGE, or something similar is still a ton of fun.

Maybe you should think about letting people win once in a while...

I like a good mix of online/offline play. It's good to play online in a group with mates or even a bunch of randoms but you can't beat immersing yourself in a game with a solid story for a few hours. I actually find myself playing more online the older I get as it's an easy way to socialize with my mates I no longer stay near. Can't really beat the social aspect of online gaming.

The thing that throws me away from multiplayer is all the crap put into it. I mean why can't it just be simple like Halo CE, Halo 2, Halo 3, Unreal(s), Quake(s), TF2, Battlefield(s) I don't need perks or killstreaks to help me play it just screws up balancing and makes the game more frustrating.

With this I swear the networking behind most online games this late gen is very off. What I mean is there is more lag, compensation, latency issues, net code... List could go on. Look at MW2 to Black Ops it went from spot perfect networking to the worse in the series.

My final reason would be the community that inhabits most online games are rude, and immature mostly kids but some immature adults that have "poop" as their clan tag or yell through the mic or be lik dis 420 swag yo all the time it gets old really quick. Also this whole Youtube outbreak of lets players doesn't help either but can be easily ignored.

It may not be because of age man I'm 18 and I can't stand to play most modern games online for more then a few rounds or so unless it's Battlefield, Unreal or any Halo prior to Halo Reach(though I did put a good amount of time on that one too I didn't like the online at all)

I haven't played much online, I gave Halo Reach a go the other day. There are some gamers who still play competitively, but if you don't match up in team slayer, the teams will be unbalanced.
