General Xbox Live Help |
|
this is a general thread for which to request and post any and all help regarding getting connected to Live, and/or problems downloading, etc. in a continual effort to keep the forum nice and clean, i will now begin closing all stand alone threads asking for help about getting on Live, and asking that the creators/participants post their questions here instead.
i will also be cataloging all problems that get asked throughout the thread, updating the following post with a list of all problems, solved or not. please feel free to help anyone or suggest fixes and have the person having the trouble try. eventually, anyone with an issue will be able to simply look in the second post for the problem they are having, and find the fix for it.

I can't seem to join friends' matches or have private chats any more. It's the exact same problem I had when my NAT was set to 'Strict', but I solved that problem several months ago (my NAT is now 'Open') and I haven't had a single problem until now. It started the day I got Gears of War 2. Since then, I haven't been able to join a friends match without getting an error message telling me that I can't connect to the host. I've gone over my NAT settings and they're fine, so I have no idea what could be causing the problem.
Any ideas? ------------------- ![]()

This might not work, because if it gets busy peoples problems might get swamped by others and will result in people bumping their old posts.
But the cataloguing of problems is a good idea. ------------------- ![]()

re: General Xbox Live Help |
quote XodusFirst of all, did you get your NAT to open by opening ports? If not, then go here, choose your router, then click on "Xbox 360 Live". If that is what you did then try this... It worked for me when I had the same problem, but I'm not guaranteeing it will work for you. Open up the Start menu, click on Run, then type in "cmd" (without quotes) in the new window. Then type in "ipconfig/all" in the cmd window. Now, look for your Default Gateway. Type this number in on an internet browser (IE, FireFox, whatever). If a window pops-up asking for a username and password, try leaving the username blank and putting in "admin" as the password. If that doesn't work, then you'll have to figure out the default criteria depending on your router (look in the support section of their website or something). Once you get past that, you'll be on the page for your router configuration settings. Basically, you just have to change your router's local IP address. For example, mine was "192.168.1.1", and I changed it to "192.168.2.1". Changing it should free you of any conflicts with other IPs. quote dragonslayer54Xbox Live is $50 a year. You can also pay for it monthly or every 3 months, but it's best to pay yearly, because you end up saving more money. The only other thing you'll need is some time of memory storage. You can use a memory card, but I highly suggest that you save up for a hard drive. The only thing a memory card can do is save profile information and game saves. -------------------

quote dragonslayer54Yeah, the Ethernet cable comes with the 360. There's nothing else you need, really. -------------------

Hey. I've recently been having a problem with my 360 account. For some reason it will not let me download anything with a rating of mature or not rated and the like. Whenever I try to, it simply says "This account does not have permission to download content with this rating." I've checked all of the video settings, have everything allowed, i've even turned off family settings. All of this fails to solve my problem. I've even gone so far as to create a new email with the age set to 23, with everything allowed as it was before, and it still says I do not have permission to download content with this rating. I'm in desperate need of help. Anyone?

After searching it on Google, I still don't know what it is.
But having two anti-virus programs is bad anyway, just keep the one. ------------------- ![]()

I don't have a router or cable which means I don't have a modem so are there any other ways to connect to XBL? I have Sprint Mobile Broadband on my desktop computer so is there any way I can integrate that?

I have had an xbox for 2 years, took my xbox from 1 room to another and today put it back. Now on my TV it's saying "mode not supported". Only works on the TV setting on the cable at the back of the xbox, which is poor for a tv of this quality. (not to sound too obnoxious). Anyone help? Thanks ------------------- ![]() Credit Robs
