Gameplay Diaries

Welcome to your hub for Dead Island's Gameplay Diaries. This is a place that isn't necessarily the normal posting routines you'd see in a game forum, but nonetheless is still very much on the topic of Dead Island. It's something I've come up with myself and wanted to try out to see how interested people would be, so please, all participation is very much appreciated!

What are Gameplay Diaries?

Basically, it's your own private little diary to keep track of what you do in-game. You can use it as a factual account of what you do. Use it to keep notes on what you've done and what you haven't or what you want to do, or better yet, use it like I do with mine and make it an actual diary. I made mine like a creative writing experience where you basically tell your Dead Island story with your own spin on it. Write it in first person, in third person, from a survivor being rescued's perspective. Or even better, from the zombie's perspective haha.

How do I get in on this, Shane?!

The general idea is that each member who wants to participate makes their own thread, titled "[Gameplay Diary] *Username*" If it takes off, we can make an index for them in this thread or, if it takes off a lot, maybe even a subforum. That's a long way off though.

But what do I put in it?

Now that we've got 2 diaries up, I'd really like to see more people added in on this. It's not just a place where you type what you just did, but more a creative writing experience than anything else. You just use your last gameplay session as general inspiration to what you're typing.

It doesn't have to be long, it doesn't have to be completely factual to what you did in game. Hell, it doesn't even have to use stuff that's IN the game. Basically you're just writing fan-fiction using your gameplay sessions as the inspiration. Here's a few bullet points to give you some ideas:

• Write it as a factual account of what you do in-game.
  
• Write it as a to-do list as well as entries for when you've done what you wanted.
  
• Keep it as a personal writing experience where you let your creative side out.
  
• Make it funny! If you've got the ability, I'm sure we'd enjoy some light-hearted Zombie Survival stories.
  
• Different perspective stories, like, as I mentioned, stories from the player's, survivor's, people who die or even the zombie's perspective! Each entry can be different.

So why not give it a shot. If you don't like it I can always get rid of the thread for you. If you do, then even better. Every bit of creativity helps. Who knows, maybe we can combine into some sort of creative writing journal/story if we get a few interested members.

Sounds like a plan. Not that anything I contribute will be interesting, but it still sounds like fun.

I might do this when I have finished my first play-through of the game.

I quite enjoyed reading your one and writing my one, Axe. Don't worry about double posting either. Of course, within reason. If you post in it and then come back 10 minutes later, edit it. But if you're doing new entires n' stuff, continuous posting is alright in these kinds of threads.

I only rented Dead Island, and I took it back a little more than a week ago. I can lay down some Brink diaries if that's alright and if I need material for my diary until I can repurchase the game.

EDIT: ...WAIT A MINUTE. Maybe we could just use our Neoblogs for gameplay diaries involving games not called Dead Island.

Shane, I had only rented it. About two hours into the game I decided I'm gonna buy it at some point, I just need to get the cash for it and I will.

Shane i realize your a reasonable guy.So I want to know if you have any idea of how to handle Ope's escort I meani have beaten it but it takes me like 3 tried . Last of all i remember accidently hitting a survivor and doing damage ONCE and i got freaked out and happy and I kept beating him but he died eventually and I wanted to know if you have ever encounters Robin he says:

Im so sorry Tim...you werent you I didnt know what else to do

Oh Jesus Crist...Timmy...[sniff] he cries through it



i felt bad about hitting him
