Job Guide *SPOILERS*

This guide will be helpful to all who wish to know about Job Classes. Here you will find a Jobs Location, my opinion, and others opinions on all Job Classes. If some people will rate jobs and say pros and cons, it will be helpful to newcomers so they can decide what jobs to use.

To use Jobs, you must complete Pastor Roche's Memories.

Go to:

http://boards.gamefaqs.com/gfaqs/genmessage.php?board=939442&topic=44225254

for Job abilities and stats.

Natural
Start
Natural job is underrated. It has a wide assortment of skills, and average stats. Despite what most think, Natural is actually useful. However, there are better jobs to use, so you will end up leaving this job in the dust, especially now that Dancer pretty much takes the “Jack of all Trades” title away. Still, you may find yourself using it at some point in the game.

White Mage
End of Pastor Roche's Memories
White Mage is an overrated job. Sure, it can cast curative magic, use Protect and Shell to reduce physical and magical damage, and cast Raise, which is essentially a Phoenix Down, but why would you need to cure yourself if you had high defense and could kill BEFORE getting damaged. Items do the job just as well. However, a mastered LV8 White Mage is great for special dungeons where items are not used, especially in Hunger and 1hp dungeons, where Raise is your best friend.

Knight
End of Freja's Memories (Final Battle)
Now here’s a great, highly underrated job. Once people get other jobs, they tend to forget about good ol’ Knight, but Knight is one of the best jobs out there. Besides having the highest job defense and good attack, Knight has some great anti-boss skills that are good in normal encounters. Power Smack is great for physical bosses, where you Power Smack them, they get knock backed one space, use their next turn to approach you, and you do it all over again! Aegis also is a good boss move, greatly increasing your defense. It’s final skill Camelot, is awesome. It does MASSIVE damage, slows, and does knock back to ALL nearby foes. Knight however, does poorly against magic bosses, so you’ll want to switch there, but other than that. don’t ever forget Knight!

Black Mage
Floor 10 of Guardian of the Flame
Black Mage is a late boomer. Black Magic spells are useless for a long time, and you may find yourself only taking Vivi-like chocobo out when you need a ranged attack in special dungeons. However, once you get more SP (Max of 7), and Sp Recovering equipment (SP Collar and a Saddle), Black Magic beomes your best bet for quick and massive destruction. However, that late in the game, other jobs may become better, but still, it can become great.

Dragoon
End of Meja's Memories
Ahhhhh, good old Dragoon. My savior in all Final Fantasy Final Bosses (Thank you Jump  ), Dragoon continues it’s usefulness in Chocobo’s Dungeon. It may have poor stats, but Dragoon has some amazing skills. Jump is a great, cheap, ranged attack for random enemies, and Dragon Power is great in boss fight for raising attack. Where Dragoon REALLY shines is it’s Final Skill, Gungnir. A 6-ranged super-attack that clears out hallways and devastates bosses, it’s only flaw is it’s cost of 3 SP. 3 Sp is not a lot compared to other skills, but it can take it’s tool, so use it only when needed. If you have high ethers on you, Gungir is great for bosses. It helped me destroy a difficult Floor 30 boss in the Guardian of Lught dungeon. Dragoon deserves all the attention it has.

Thief
Floor 11 of Guardian of the Flame, enter the white circle trap. It will either be a Duel Room or Mog Shop. If Mog Shop steal the white circle object, Theif Memories, from him and escape via
stairs.
Theif can be difficult to aquire, but is generally worth the effort. Theif relies on SP and range, so always have some ethers around when using Theif. Theif’s stats are terrible, especially defense, but thief should never be fighting up close. It’s cheap yet good 3 range attacks, Blind Needles and Poison Needles are great in boss fights and normal encounters for stats and damage. Alert allows you to see entire map floors, but costs the same as Gungnir, 3 Sp, so is not generally worth it. Another 3 SP move, Artful move casts Haste on you, which is particulary useful in bosses. You can cast many Needles if you have haste on you before a boss can attack! Theif’s biggest drawback is it’s massive JP requirement. IT will take a long time to learn skills, but luckily it’s earliest moves (The Needles) are the best.

Scholar
Floor 20 in Guardian of the Water
As Kefka would say “I hate, hate, hate, hate, hate, hate, hate, hate, hate , hate, hate, hate…… YOU!” Scholar has never been of any use to me during the course of the game. It essentially relies on items, and I am not one to empty my inventory, then spend tons of gil on items to make something useful. It has fast SP recovery, which would be good if any of it’s skills had any use. Stay away from this job!

Dark Knight
Floor 30 of Guardian of Light
I thank Cecil for his wonderful gift after that horrible job. Dark Knight is all out offense, and is the opposite of Knight. While Knight prefers to outlast foes with high defense, Dark Knight just goes in killing everything before it has a chance to move. Dark is a strong, cheap, 3-ranged attack which owns in hallways. It’s LV7 Skill Dark Blade gets a lot of attention, and it deserves it. For a cost of 3 Sp and 30% your max Hp, you deal 999 damage on anything. Including bosses. This helps a lot on your path to get Ninja. It’s a shame that most people just get Dark Knight, level him up, get Ninja, then use Ninja’s 1 Sp, LV1 Shuriken ability to deal 999 damage. Dark Knight’s a great job, but falls to Ninja like everything else. Use him if you don’t want Ninja.

Ninja
End of Volg's Memories

Dancer
Romantic Phrase “Pirouette(Musical Note)”
Just recently discovered how to obtain, Dancer has been gracing us with sheer awesomeness. The true “Jack-of-all-Trades” dancer has everything but a ranged attack. It has cheap knock back, curative magic, haste, lowest JP to master, you name it he got it, EXCEPT a 3 ranged attack. Dancing Blades does not count, it’s soul purpose is to utterly destroy monster houses. This means it is tough to obtain JP (no Cactuars unless you kick stuff), and must take damage while fighting, which is bad. Despite the fact it has high defense, it has low HP. Still use it in longer dungeons for variety, but avoid boss battles.

Dancer Is a Job gotten by Romantic phrases.

Go to the silo and try every one you have, than if you get dancer post the romantic phrase.

PS: Try "Goblin Meteor".

re: Job Guide *SPOILERS*

Are you positive Dancer is via Romantic phrases? Either way, I can't put it down until I have specific info. Thanks though. I tried all the phrases I have and I'm at Rookie Romantic (9) without Dancer job. Goblin Meteor does not work, despite what the official site says.

Someone on GameFAQs says that "Goblin's Meteor" is the working phrase, but I haven't had a chance to test it out yet.

re: Job Guide *SPOILERS*

On GameFaqs someone is translating the japenese Romantic Phrase off the Japenese site, he's going to try it on the US game and if it works I'll post it.

But you can confirm it's from Romantic Phrases.

re: Job Guide *SPOILERS*

What would make this guide beastley is adding all of the skills, and a description of what they do, and adding how many jp it takes to get to each level

re: Job Guide *SPOILERS*

Yeahhhhhhh..............

*Gets back to reality*

There is no way I can do the JP cause JP carries over and I am lazy. Even though the GFAQs link above has the skills, I might do that. Demonfurby, is it just me or are the only ones on this forum you and me (with occassional input from Yoshi Freak).
And P.S, you CAN contribute. You know, give some job opinions, so people can have 2 opinions.
