Any good?

I watched some gameplay of it and saw it looked very Borderands-Esq. So is it as good as it looks? Does it play well and satisfy?

I've played the game for a couple of days now. It's a good solid first person shooter, but it's not doing anything new that you haven't seen in other FPS games. The gameplay is solid, the graphics are amazing, the story is a bit bland and has been done before, the guns and ammo you get to use are pretty cool. I don't have anything bad to say about the game, but it is not revolutionizing either. If you like FPS games then get this, if you like borderlands, call of duty, or fallout games.......you will probably like this game. I've enjoyed it so far, but like I said it's nothing new that I haven't seen in other games before.

It's Borderlands driving meets Fallout gameplay.
If you like either of those, you'll probably like this.

As for the game itself, it's basically half hour sections of corridor shooter linked together by open exploration and driving sections.

The weapons are good. The shotgun feels like a shotgun should; only id do good shotguns and this one is a beast.

The further into the game you get the more intersting and challenging it gets. My main issue now is load time on ps3 seem to take the mick tbh. Play abit, get to a dorr then wait while the game loads, play abit more and more load times. Maybe im being a bit fussy but its starting to grate. Apart from that im enjoying the game.

I like the fact, that it is s post apocolyptic game that does not involve nuclear war. Gorgeous graphics. I have only played it for an hour, and so far so good.

I just bought this game for 12 dollars last week and just finished it.

Pros:
-Graphics
-Solid Mechanics even if balancing is flawed
-Wingsticks


Cons:
-Labeled Roleplaying game similar to Fallout but lacks depth
-Linear. You can "look" wear you want to but most progression areas are locked off til you complete other missions.
-Too much, too little. The game trying to be an RPG/FPS/Racing game. Don't get me wrong, RPGs have done similar things to this before, but Rage tries to do all three without really making a single style as the core gameplay.
-REUSED areas. Lazy no matter how you look at it and really outsetting when you consider that a complete run of the game will bring you into each area within the game at least twice.
-Weapon balancing/Economy Balancing: You have to buy or find ammo. In any difficulty above normal, the enemies are all bullet sponges. Even headshots can take you more than 4 rounds. As always, this makes the Assualt Rifle useless.


Bottom line: If you are REALLY interested in playing Rage, rent it. Do not buy it. Rent it.

I played through Rage twice before I posted that. I had my fun and I wasn't biased. I played the game, compared it to other games doing the same thing and spoke my peace.

I have fun with the game but I wouldn't recommend buying it because it's too short and has a lot of balancing issues.

Your like the shooting? Use the Striker Crossbow with Dynamite bolts or the Pop rockets on the shotgun. Even on NIGHTMARE it isn't hard to dispatch enemies using the right combos. However, using regular ammo on enemies would quickly drain your stock in a single room. This is what I mean about balancing. Special ammo is overly effective (1shot kills) where regular ammo is useless. This almost goes for any mode.

The story. You're clumsily thrown into each new segment predictably and in a way that is completely detach. The Devs of Fallout would probably all feel insulted by the comparison. When I played Fallout, even the blood trails told a story. I followed a blood trail into a house where a sniper was camped outside. Inside the house, a bandit was at the end of the blood trail holding his belly... dead on the coffee table. At no point was the story close to this sort of depth.

The racing. When's the last time you lost a race? I don't even play racing games and I won every race on the first shot.
