	The solution is probably simple. Just play around with the margins/padding/widths/heights for a while.

	something else is up, it looks like your opacity is a mixture of 5% and 100% on the IE one. did you try checking the error console on firefox? (Ctrl+Shift+J)

	the problem is about double padding on IE6. If an element is floated and has padding attribute then the actual padding is double. Let say we have padding-left: 6px; In IE you'll have 12px. One quick solution is: some-selector{ padding: 6px!important; padding: 3px } IE6 doesn't understand !important declaration and it will set style 3px because is the last declaration
