There might be thread about this already if so please post a link
Is there a really big pistol? i've heard this game has a "gazillion" guns but are pistols all weak and used as back up weapoons or are there pistols big enough to use as a primary? ------------------- Gaming isn't an option. It's a way of life

So basically pistols fall into two categories. Repeaters and Revolvers. Repeaters are used more as the backup guns. The highest damage repeater I've ever seen is 256 and I have it. That's not saying there isn't a repeater with higher damage. The revolver are the more powerful, slower firing, small clip guns. They can very easily be used as a primary weapon. The highest revolver damage that I've seen, again on I have, has a damage of 1030.

For a weapon that deals bullet damage, 1k is the highest Ive HEARD of. I havent seen any bullet firing gun that is capable of 1k damage in any of my drops.
Ive completed the 2 playthroughs as the soldier and farmed the hell out of the new haven chests that are loaded with lvl 48 weapons, and the closest Ive seen was a 978 damage Atlas Pearl Sniper. 1k damage may sound awesome, but once you turn that vault key in to Tannis the second time and everything resets to the top tier enemies, the enemies absorb so much damage that it makes a 978 sniper rifle still take 3 shots to the face to drop one of them.

That's also part of the reason why the game is great. It still provides a little bit of a challenge once you beat it.

this question probably doesnt belong here but im gonna ask anyways. I heard its rpg in levelling and you like pick 1 of 4 classes to play as. How does this work? like if you pick one are you stuck with certain weapons or is it more like picking what character to play as?
