GOT IT. FINALLY. So I have some questions/comments. - Page 2

Woah. I'm already at the final battle. That was fast.

I got D2HD for psp and it was ok but theres no where for me to power boost? I have no idea how too get adell to a high level and playin with axel is fun but he's really weak.

Haven't beaten it yet- I wanted to snag most of the generics. I have all save the Berserker, Prinny Superhero, and Majin. I want to utilize all the extra mana from the unique characters I never use (all but Mao and Almaz) to pass character bills, make generics, and get different clubs.

My next cycle I'm going to try out a different roster: Shaman, Exorcist, Bounty Hunter, Ifrit, Heretic, Holy Dragon, Monster Tamer, Archer, Magic Knight, and Genin. Also, what's up with Reapers? They have wind -75 but they only learn wind spells. It's the same with ghosts. They get -50 to fire but learn fire spells. That's counter productive if you ask me. I was going to make either, but I was turned off by that aspect.

It was pretty easy though. My party hovered around the 65-70 range and still nuked the lackeys and dog piled the final boss in four turns. I didn't use most of them because the magic users would have been slammed! And only 3 party members died- a Green Skull, a Heavy Knight(!), and a Fury Fatalist.

Lamington still wins for the toughest final boss. Hell in that fight it was just Laharl during the last few turns! Now that was a battle! Xenon was still tough, but I still had Adell, a Skull, and my Heavy Knight. NIS must be going soft...

I think Prinny Mask was a toughest boss in D3. Oh ho, now that was a fun fight. I lost the first time because I though all the AI would sit back and wait for me. Oh no- they came charging in! My right flank lead by Almaz gets stream rolled by spells and Mage-Knights as my right held until the I was outflanked and healer-less. That was good- I want more fights like that. Prinny Mask himself took a good amount of turns to down- though his attacks were weak. Salvatore's fights were fun as well. I didn't lose any of those, but I did come close at some points.

TT, you only need to grind in post game, hah hah! D2 and D3 are laid out so you can go through without going into Item world or replaying maps. You have to risk going "as is" into the next level. Makes it lots of fun and the battles more memorable. It also makes you use certain qualities placed into the game. Such as Gun's SPD reducing aspect to hit shifty enemies or a Magic user's range and AOE spells to cripple packed units. There was never a moment in D2 or D3 where I thought, "I have to LVX in order to slam these guys." If I lost, I took a different approach to the battle- which can make all the difference.

Have you played Chrono Cross by chance? Now they had an "anti grind" leveling system that was pretty cool. I wish more companies caught onto that.

No. Every time you killed a boss- you effectively went up a level. Thus, leveling was in line with progression- so there was no way to power level.

However, when a party member participates in battle, the character gains some stats until their 2nd or 4th battle. This way your characters still get rewarded by battling and encourages you to use different characters so they can get the bonus stats. Needless to say, I liked how that was set up. Monsters and bosses would always be a challenge (no just mashing X here! ) and nobody could fall into treadmilling because it wouldn't reward you for extreme grinding. The game was still quite lengthy and felt rewarding to play.
