Game

"Slow" is the word of the day here. Slow movement, slow weapon swaping, slow paced action, ehh.

They want to make a game that encourages to use team work with SOP, to be honest, nobody cares. Everyone wants to go their own way to do their own business.

What are your opinions about the game?

re: Game

I fired it up for the first time a few hours ago and felt the same as you. The whole time I was playing I was thinking to myself 'why am I playing this instead of Call of Duty'

From what I saw the commands thing doesn't work, people are just wandering round in little groups (on team deathmatch) hoping to stumble across an enemy.

re: Game

I get your feeling I thought so at first too but when you get used to it man is it fun. The squad based thing and the aiming if you know what to do works very well. Head shots are crucial. you donut run around looking for people. most people run into the open. What I do is tend to hid around walls and look around to see anyone stupid enough to jump out. give the game a chance, it actually plays really good. Just a word of advice don't bother with CQC, its practically useless. If u sneak up on someone just pop on in their head don't use CQC.

re: Game

I was very dissapointed with my brief time with MGO this morning. Here's why:

Technical problems:
1. Constantly being kicked from games due to lost connection, clearly they haven't fixed the servers.
2. The game is in widescreen, which is annoying for those of us with a 4:3 TV.
3. I can't figure out how to activate the "preset messages" (F1, F2, etc.). In MGS3S, it was easy, but I'm guessing you need a USB Keyboard for this?
4. The lobby system is *bleeped*. WTF is with Solid, Liquid, Otacon, Raiden, etc??? Would it have killed them to make it simple?

Gameplay problems:
5. Can't customise controls. A "reto" option with MGS3S controls would have been nice. These new ones are going to take some getting used to...
6. Too much shit on the screen. Life bar, stamina bar, weapon selected, item selected, AUTO AIM ON, my skill presets, radar...waaaay too much.

They better fix all this for the full version.

re: Game

Preset messages are used by pressing the select button then the d-pad. Solid, Liquid, Raiden, etc are the server names with the number alongside showing the amount of people in them. I haven't disconnected from a game yet so I can't comment on that.

Well it seems very diverse, some people are having a flawless game, others are having a shit fest me being one of them. Both me and sean are from Australia, so that's got to be the problem

re: Game

No, I mean the preset text messages. In the options menu you can assign a phrase to "F1", then ingame you press "F1" and the message instantly appears. It was useful in MGS3S because this way you can say things like "I'm from Australia" by pressing 1 button, rather than the 18 it would normally take. But while the option to configure preset messages is in MGOB, I can't seem to figure out how to use it ingame.

Also, why the heck would they need to name different servers "Solid", "Liquid", etc.? Why not just have 1 big server? Or an American server, a European server, an Australian server and an Asian server?

re: Game

They had server problems this morning but its getting steady now and I am having no problems.

Why can't they name their servers? I grasped the lobby names the second I encountered it. I don't find it was that challenging to figure out what it meant. The servers are not restricted by region its Australia/North America/Europe. Lots of games name their servers, I see no reason to change just because one dislikes the name. And how can they have it on one big server. Do you know what it takes to run one server that holds 1000+ people? Your asking them to pack all 6000 or so beta players to get put into one server, yea imagine lagging and getting dropped and kicked even more. Servers aren't just a random home computer that hosts everything. A home server alone is like $700 it would probably be like 5000+ for a server to the capacity of those three, maybe even more.

The control basis is very similar to the past, some new stuff but anyone can get used to it, and I did it within one day so I don't see why you can't

As for the hud display, I don't think its crowded at all, very similar to the MGS3 hud the Auto-aim is transparent, and if it bothers you learn to aim.

The preset buttons I have no problem with I got it all working,

re: Game

I found it slow at first and was kicked about 20 seconds into my first few matches, but as the day wore on, it got LOADS better. I found sniping became my talent, especially on Grozny Grad. While most people ran into the open, there were a select few who actually played stealthily and tranqed everyone. My last match was a one-on-one. Me versus another guy in a stealth sniper battle in Grozny Grad. It was great fun and I can't wait until the real game.

re: Game

After playing it last night and now this morning I can say it has got much better as I have played it more. Sniping is great on Grozny grad because of the idiots that think it is call of duty. If you want to be good at the game don't run around like a mad man and be patient. That is how it is meant to be played. My only complaint is that I can't use the CQC properly and it seems to be ineffective.

I think it's good, the aiming is fine. However, movement is slow, sometimes it can have a few framerate drops, now i'm not geek it's not like 30 > 29.5 but it's noticable.

Sean F I have no idea what you're on about the lobby system is fine, it's in keeping with MGS Lore, so you can kindly *bleep* off on that one. Yeah, the preset messages suck, one person in a game spammed "Go, Go, Go" ¬¬ Havn't noticed the wide screen issue, so again I can't comment. Yes I agree with the screen issue, it is a little clogged but nothing that stops the flow of the game that much. Controls would have been in MGS3 mode, but they're fine.

1. Thats most likely your fault, not the Servers.
2. Srly.? In this day and age, your telling me you don't have a TV that supports Widescreen ?
3. --
4. Why does it even matter what their names are ? Would you rather they were just 1, 2, 3 and 4 ?
5. I'm pretty sure you can ?
6. Are you even looking at the right screen ? The screen is anything but cluttered ... Beside, this is the same set up that MGS4 will use so it looks like you wouldn't be enjoying that either =]

Did you not see what happened when they first launched the Beta =P ?
As I've said above, why does it matter what the Servers are called ? It hardly affects you unless your very indecisive. I would much rather have the servers like this, than be designated a server by location. I wanna play with people from around the world, not just Europeans !

re: Game

I personally love CQC, I just follow my teammates around and sneak around in a fire fight and either scan and choke them or just stun knife them but I just like to play that way rather than just shooting. Once you get used to it, this game is great fun but I don't like blood bath to much.
