Silent Hill: Homecoming Hands-On - "It looks like Konami learned from The Room" |
quoteTbh, I don't see what was so awful about SH4. It was a disappointment compared to previous SH games, but I wouldn't call it a bad game. It was quite a good game, despite it's lack of bosses and puzzles (and it's abundance of backtracking). But in the end, I enjoyed it, and liked that Walter Sullivan's backstory was delved into (even if it did contradict his plot from SH2). - - - Kotaku's idea of "improvements" in Homecoming seem to be identical to my idea of "disappointments" in a Silent Hill game. >_> -------------------

Well the storyline for Silent Hill 4 was a bit half assed. Gameplay wasn't really that bad though, still stuck to the horror and forced you to run away from enemies at times too. Second half of the game keeping you on your toes by NOT giving you a safe place whatsoever. Origins was a hell of a horror game for a handheld, so obviously someone's being pretty *bleep*ing picky.
And anything turning mainstream ain't exactly the best idea. Mainstream = shooters. More developers make more Action horror games and Survival Horror goes out the *bleep*ing window, by the time next year comes we'll probably have about 1 or 2 development teams still making whatever's left of Survival Horror...not long before they are also shut down because they are bought off by some company like E.A. or some shit. ------------------- ![]()

True enough, but you have to admit that F.E.A.R. was a hell of a shooter/horror game, although i do believe that the Assault Rife (AK-47) in Origins was a little...over kill really should just remain Handgun, Shotgun, Rife, Revolver.
The second half of Silent Hill 4 was annoying but at the same time gave you that "No place to hide" feeling and when the Apartment your only place of freedom goes from healing room to room that can kill you well you had to admit that gave you that "Oh man i'm totally screwed now" feeling. -------------------

quote lycan2000I so agree... on levels. Me and my mates 'borrowed' my dads copy of Origins and spent probably eighteen hours playing it straight with one break for pizza. I swear, I was in bloody histerics when my mates were all muttering when we finally got to sleep. Apparently I was the only one who didn't have some sort of nightmare from it. One thing I didn't like in SH4 though was that, you know in the others the walls seemed to almost move and there were shadows that weren't attached to anything, and it really gave you that sense of paranoia, in SH4 it wasn't as strong. And the levels seemed to be more lightly designed, less dark spots and such. ------------------- Life is a battle between Order and Chaos... Good and Evil... Truth and Perception...
