Spotted in Silent Hill Homecoming: Pyramid Head
|
quoteThere are two things we know about Pyramid Head. One, he is a physical manifestation of guilt. Two, he generally causes the physical manifestation of crap in your pants. Oh, actually, there is a third thing we know about Pyramid Head: he makes an appearance in Silent Hill Homecoming. This raises the question: what is protagonist Alex Shepherd guilty of? Our guess is that he feels guilty about the desperate fan service required to keep gamers interested in this series. lol. link

Well, it kinda makes sense for PH to be here. There are seemingly ties to SH2 in this game (the protagonists' last name; Shephard), and PH did appear in that game afterall...

Bah. Can't say I'm too happy about this. As the article said, it certainly seems like fanservice to keep people interested in the game. I was just talking about this on Gamegrep. Pyramid Head isn't only a manifestation of guilt - He's a manifestation of Jemes's guilt. It seems silly (or lazy) to use the exact same monster to represent a brand new character's guilt.

Exactly, considering the Butcher was a new monster in Origins, which represented Travis, it should be a new monster which represents this new character.

Very true - the monsters in Silent Hill are supposed to represent (and be unique to) the emotions of the protagonist/person in the town. I didn't like the butcher much, he seemed too much like Pyramid Head in my opinion. Should've been a completely different monster for a different person.

well im new to the series and am expecting to get this game. ive only seen the movie and would love to see him in the game. maybe there aim is to attract more customers and not necessarily focus on their current fan base. and it may not be konami's fault completely. who is the producer of the series?

I really wouldn't have mind this if they used PH's original version, that actually would've sparked more hope for this game. The fact that they're using the movie version makes me more skeptical about the game =\.

Same goes for the nurses. There is no way Alex's story can be more sexually-depraved than James's, so why do the nurses have so much ... er ... "sex appeal"? Looks like another think yanked from the movie for no particular reason. X_X
If the new team can somehow link the nurses and Pyramid Head to Mary and James's story (since Alex Sheppard and Mary Sheppard seem to have a connection) then I'll be thrilled. But I can't see that happening, at least not with the info we have now.

I know this is extremely late but...there's Mary Sheppard and there's Alex Shepherd. Subtle difference and, quite frankly, doing anymore fan service would make the story more ridiculous than it needs to be. That's already done with ripping everything off the movie and SH2 and pretending that the main character's problems are completely original.

Well as it had been said that theres a link between Sh2 and Homecoming, didn't anyone think that maybe there is a connetion between James and the new guy?
Besides the Pyrmid Heads always were a great enemy!
After all pick up the thoughts from ten people around you and at least three of them will be the same or very similar. Thats been proven. So in a game, where for the fifth or however many times people have been pulled to the same town in the same freaky spacial shift thing, there is sure to be even more of a connection, even between antagonists and protagonists
please don't mind my pitiful spelling.

Here's some ... interesting news ... quote Pyramid Head has a new name ... "Bogeyman"? We all know Silent Hill's iconic enemy has never had an 'official' name, though he is popularly known as "Pyramid Head" or "Red Pyramid Thing" by fans and the game-makers alike. But that seems to have changed for Silent Hill: Homecoming. A scanned page from the official guide reveals that Pyramid Head now has a new name ... "Bogeyman"! gamegrep article
