Never played a Civilisation game before, because my computer is a piece of crap. I don't get why, on the screenshots, Abraham Lincoln is talking to Gengis Kahn? Is Lincoln your leader even when you start at 0 BC or whatever? Which is pretty wierd.

In most of the Civ games you can start as Lincoln from the beginning of history

With all Civilization games, you start with prefixed leaders, who you play as throught the entire game (which lasts close to 4000 years+)...

its really short
and doesn't let you do much
but it looks like a pretty good game
i think ill consider buying it

Argh! Your kidding, I left my xbox controller round my friends house last night! Damn! Do you know if it available in the UK the demo? I will defiantly be downloading it tonight!

Wasn't in, but it was on the Coming Soon list in GAME. Anyway, downloaded the demo. I waged war against Alexander and he is unstoppable! Is it even possible to beat him? Or even win the demo?

Just got this a couple of hours ago. About 10 mins in I got 3 red lights!

Luckily, it was just the wire at the back. But damn, what if it had been RROD? I would have been really annoyed.

Anyway, about 2 hours in and I have realised this game is very hard. I'm on Chieftain. I killed Lincoln easily enough. But it is 1800 AD and I haven't made a mark on the others.


Cleopatra is up on a big island on her own, her city borders have stretched to all the way across, apart from 2 tiles were I managed to build a city. Plan on taking her next.

The Aztecs had 2 cities, I took one but I am really struggling on capturing his capital. He destroys everything I throw at him without me making a single mark in their defence.

And finally, the Ruskies have 3 cities already and lots of soldiers scattered around their area.

I am not even contemplating doing Domination on Deity, but if anyone else is, good luck.

I plan on advancing the fastest and maybe hitting them with guns and tanks whilst they still have Warriors and Horses.

I've got the game since yesterday, tried playing as the Japanese and the Germans, results (on chieftain):

Germans: 1500AD, still in medieval era, defeated the Japs, got 4 cities + the 2 Jap cities. Romans, English and Spanish have 2 cities, and haven't even met each other yet...

Japanese: 1050AD, industrial era already, I'm teching up at a horrifying pace, got 4 cities, Zulu's have 1, English have 1, Chinese have 1 and Indians have ... 1.

With the Germans i'm going to go for the Technological or the Economical Victory, with the Japs i'll go for a Domination Victory, for the simple reason that the game ends in 2100 AD, no matter what, how, or where...

So King Bubsgonzola, unless the game progresses at a pace slower than 50yrs after a certain point, (which i sincerely hope), it's kind of impossible I guess to still get a Domination Victory, seeing as you only have, what, 6 turns left? (By the way, what civ are you playing as? I personally like the Germans best, gotta love them Panzer Tanks. )

This also brings me to one of my concerns, the game is too short I guess to be able to attain a DV, especially on a more challenging difficulty level..
