Hertha Berlin

Heynckes: Draw Dealt Us No Favours

Hertha Berlin manager Jupp Heynckes voiced his opinion on the EuroLiga draw that was conducted yesterday in Switzerland. Here's what he had to say:
quote
The draw, in all fairness, dealt us no favours at all. We were confident we would be playing in one of the Pools, but luck has deserted us in the end. Now, we have to concentrate on being promoted to Pool B through Division 2 this season. I think the club is disappointed, but we'll get on with what we have to do and hopefully achieve some success along the way.
The German club have a long road ahead to achieve success and being drawn into Division 2 wont help their cause at all. They must gain promotion into Pool B next season, otherwise it could be a long and grueling stay 'at the bottom'.

Hertha Berlin

Division 2

Results

Hertha Berlin 1-1 Manchester City
15' Park Chu-Young
54' Vassell

Park Chu-Young

Hertha Berlin began their campaign with a disappointing 1-1 draw at the Olympiastadion. After a shaky start to the game, Korean striker Park Chu-Young put the German side ahead after collecting a pass from Brazilian Diogo Rincon and rounding City keeper Isaksson before planting the ball in the net. Early in the second half, City equalised as Vassell beat 3 defenders before scoring past Hildebrand with a neat finish off the post. The last half hour was dominated by Hertha Berlin, but nothing came out of it in the end and it finished 1-1 in manager Heynckes' first game in charge of Hertha Berlin. Key players for Hertha Berlin were Gonzalo Rodriguez and Nigel de Jong, who both defended brilliantly all match.

Hertha Berlin 1-0 Rennes
8' Lavezzi

Lavezzi

This was a much better performance by the German side as they completely dominated their French opponents in a one-sided game. Argentine star Lavezzi was outstanding all game, constantly causing havoc for the Rennes defence. His early goal was one to remember for the fans. Gomez released Lavezzi, who turned Mensah inside and out before leaving Pouplin flat-footed in the Rennes goal with a super strike. Along with Gomez and Schlaudraff, the trio of attackers for Hertha played some wonderful football at times. Hertha Berlin deserved winners in the end, earning their first win for Heynckes and the fans this season.

Hertha Berlin 3-0 Heerenveen
3' Guardado
45'+1 Park Chu-Young
69' Diogo Rincon

Park Chu-Young

It was another dominant display by Hertha Berlin at home in front of a packed Olympiastadion. They began with a real bang after only 3 minutes with Guardado heading home from an Odonkor cross. Then, Hertha were 2-0 just before half time thanks to a great Park Chu-Young goal. The final goal of the game was the pick of the lot, as Hanke found de Jong along the right flank, and the Dutch right-back delivered a wonderful ball into the box for Diogo Rincon to emphatically volley home.

Sampdoria 2-4 Hertha Berlin
40' Gomez
44' Gomez
61' Montella(PK)
70' Lavezzi
79' Lavezzi
82' Bonazzoli

Lavezzi

Hertha Berlin's first away game ended with a wonderful win in this six-goal thriller at Sampdoria. Mario Gomez scored a quick double to give Berlin a 2-0 lead at half time. In the 60th minute, Hertha were down to 10 men when Gonzalo Rodriguez was sent off for a foul on Cassano in the box. Montella converted the penalty, before Lavezzi made sure of the three points for Hertha Berlin with a double of his own. Bonazzoli got a late goal for the Italians, but it was too little, too late. Hertha Berlin's Nocerino was wonderful in the midfield and Schlaudraff was exceptional with his passing as he set up two of the German club's four goals.

thanks PET. appreciate the support. btw, congrats on doing the double with West Brom. love your ML too mate. and especially how you've put yourself in the game. I did the same thing in my AS Victoire ML in PES 6. I ended up scoring 272 goals in 360 games...as a CMF!!! I gave myself reasonable stats, not super stats, yet I ended up reaching 94 as a peak at 23 and staying there until 30 lol.

hey mate, welcome to the thread. to answer your question, I play both modes eg. mixed leagues and regular leagues. Honestly, I prefer playing the regular leagues as it makes the European competitions (UEFA Cup, Champions League) much more exciting and different than playing a mixed league of teams from around Europe and/or the world.

Hertha Berlin

Hertha Berlin Start With A Bang

Hertha Berlin have begun the EuroLiga Division 2 season in wonderful fashion, undefeated in the first four games. After starting with a rather unconvincing 1-1 home draw against Manchester City, the German side has won the last three game impressively and are playing some beautiful football. Manager Jupp Heynckes has taken most of the credit for the team's efforts so far in the season, showing the leadership and coaching that helped him win the Champions League with Real Madrid in 1998.

Heynckes spoke to the media yesterday about the season so far for Hertha Berlin and here's what he had to say:

quote
I'm very proud of the boys at the moment. They have all worked extremely hard and have bonded well. I think this is showing in their performances this season so far. We've been brilliant at times and I'm really lucky to manage such a super team. We've won three out of four, and are still undefeated this campaign, and I'm enjoying my time here at Hertha Berlin.

There are players for the team that to me have been the real key to the success so far in the season. Every player has helped the club to achieve these results and have been amazing, yet players like Lavezzi and Park Chu-Young have been superb. Both are making names for themselves in Europe and the fans love them.

The club and the amazing fans have really helped us perform to the best of our ability and have been so supportive. We thank them from the bottom of our hearts, and hope they continue to be there with us as we strive for glory.

Such a glorious start to the season for Hertha Berlin has led to many people tipping them to win Division 2 and secure promotion next season. Hopefully, the added expectations wont affect the way they play for the rest of the season.

Division 2

Results

ELA (EuroLiga Association) Division 2 Cup
Hertha Berlin 2-0 Heerenveen
39' Diogo Rincon
44' Hanke

Diogo Rincon

Hertha Berlin's ELA Cup campaign got off to a solid, yet unconvincing start, defeating Heerenveen 2-0 in the 1st Round, 1st Leg at the Olympiastadion. Brazilian Diogo Rincon was the standout player in this dull match, and got the German side ahead before Hanke made it 2-0 with his first goal of the season. Alexandre Song and Andreas Ottl were very solid in defence for Hertha Berlin and made sure that the German side would have an advantage going into the 2nd Leg in Holland.

FC Basel 0-3 Hertha Berlin
17' Gomez
63' Lavezzi(PK)
77' Lavezzi

Gomez

Hertha Berlin made it 5 wins in a row in all competitions with a superb display in Switzerland against FC Basel. Heynckes' choice to play a 3-man attack in 2 consecutive away games paid off as Schlaudraff, Lavezzi and Gomez were fantastic. Argentine Lavezzi scored another brace to increase his goal tally to 4 in the last 2 games. One of them from the spot as Majstorovic fould Schlaudraff in the box after 63 minutes, and Lavezzi comfortably converted the penalty. Gomez again a star in this game and some standout performances by Nocerino, Mizuno and de Jong helped the German side to an easy win away from home.

Hertha Berlin 3-1 AEK Athens
23' Jansen(OG)
45'+2 Odonkor
61' Lavezzi
74' Lavezzi

Lavezzi

Heynckes chose to play the same attack from the previous 2 EuroLiga games, but it was AEK who started the better in this 1st vs. 3rd battle. Marcell Jansen unfortunately putting the ball in his own net after 23 minutes trying to clear the ball out of the Hertha Berlin box. This spurred the Germans into life and they equalised just before half time with Gomez finding Odonkor, who calmly slotted home just outside the AEK box. The second half was all Hertha Berlin as 'The Lavezzi Show' began. He was simply awesome for the German side, scoring another brace to take his tally to 6 in the last 3 games and leading Hertha to another win.

ELA (EuroLiga Association) Division 2 Cup
Heerenveen 1-3 Hertha Berlin
58' Cecilio Lopes
62' Park Chu-Young
77' Park Chu-Young
84' Guardado

Park Chu-Young

Two goal hero Park Chu-Young helped Hertha defeat Heerenveen 5-1 on aggregate, 3-1 on the night, and go through to the Semi Finals of the ELA Cup. Heerenveen started the better of the two teams in Holland and in front of their home fans, scored first in the 58th minute through Brazilian Cecilio Lopes, to make the score 2-1 on aggregate. Four minutes later, Korean Park Chu-Young settled the match first with a clinical finish and then with a lovely strike outside the box. Mexican star Guardado put the icing on the cake for Hertha with a super volley in the 84th minute, an early contender for goal of the season.

Getafe 0-3 Hertha Berlin
8' Park Chu-Young
62' Gomez
86' Lavezzi

Gomez

This match pitted 2nd placed Getafe against top of the table Hertha Berlin. And it was the German side that took the points home from Spain in a solid display. Hertha took the lead early through Park Chu-Young, who was partnered up front by Jan Schlaudraff and Ivan 'La Bestia(the Beast)' Lavezzi. The strikeforce wasn't working as well as hoped and Getafe began to get back in the game but couldn't find a way past the German's defence. This forced Heynckes to bring on Mario Gomez in place of Park Chu-Young, and the substitution paid off as Hertha Berlin played much better with Gomez on the pitch. Lavezzi and Gomez both scored to make sure the German club were top after the first half of the season and going into the mid-season break.

Hertha Berlin

Lavezzi: I'm Only Warming Up

Hertha Berlin have been mesmerised by 'The Lavezzi Show' this season, and the club have achieved wonderful success thanks to the man nicknamed 'La Bestia'. Argentine wonder Ivan Lavezzi has been simply incredible for the German side in the first half of the season, scoring 8 goals in only 5 appearances. His performances after the first half of the season have been instrumental to Hertha's push for promotion next season, and has led to the likes of AC Milan, Arsenal and Valencia starting to take notice of the 'Prince of Hertha Berlin'. Lavezzi spoke to the media yesterday about Season 2007 so far, and had this to say:

quote
This season so far for me has been great. I'm really happy with how I'm playing, and the team has been wonderful to me and are treating me really well. I'm so glad the team are performing well and they deserve all the credit they get. I love it here in Berlin. Everyone has been so nice to me and my family, and the fans are amazing. I feel like a prince.

To be honest, I feel like I'm only warming up. My body, my head and my heart are telling me that I can play better and give more in my performance for the club. So, I feel as though I'm playing at around 70-80%. That means there's more to come from me and from the team. I hope to continue this wonderful run of form I'm in, and during the rest of the season, I feel I can get better and better.

It's not only me that has started the season well. Parky (Park Chu-Young) and Mario (Mario Gomez) have also been terrific for us. They are both great players and along with me and the rest of the team, I think we can get the results we want for the club and the fans.
This can only spell danger for the teams in Division 2 and Europe as a whole. If Lavezzi can keep his form up, Hertha Berlin may have a superstar in the making. And Lavezzi could be joining fellow Argentine wonders Lionel Messi and his role model, Carlos Tevez, as one of the hottest properties in world football.

ConAir, I must admit, you've become quite the writer Full of detail, and keeps me so entertained mate.

I've started my Metz ML, and just finished the first season. I finished last with 14 points but I won the D2 Cup. Negotiations have just started, and in mid season I bought Vagner Love and George. Vagner Love has been simply supurb. 5 goals in 6 matches I believe and he's been having a good partnership with Babacar Gueye and Pappis Cisse. Any idea who I should buy and could buy?

thanks CMFC mate, nice to hear you're enjoying my work. good job winning the D2 Cup with Metz, bad luck in coming last in the league though. you must be playing top player and very hard difficulty in everything then. for my Hertha Berlin ML, i'm playing professional difficulty. nice job getting Vagner Love, and he seems to be quite a signing too.

I strongly recommend Lavezzi mate, he's awesome. he's like a cheaper version of Messi and Tevez, and just as effective. not too costly either, about 600 salary i think.

Newcastle United

Stratford: I'm in the January Swing and I am still winning games like my players were fresh!

As Stratford has brought in new potential he has also brought in new aggressively attacking tactics.
Newest appointment was Alexandre Pato ¬

He has already made an amazing impression on Tyneside by scoring 2 on his debut against Real Madrid then another 2 against Real Madrid on the return leg.
Since then he has tucked away 4 in the Premiership 1 against Manchester United and a hat-trick against Arsenal.

Not forgetting Gervinho who also scored on his debut which occurred at the same game as Pato's

Pato

Reminded me of 95' season when Asprilla nutmeged the Barca defender and that touch of magic was in it.
Magic is the only thibg at Newcastle at the momment and the Barca squad will be so demoralized next game should be a walk through as red arrows should be soaring.

Newcastle United 1-0 West Ham United

Kaka'

Kaka was the only real presence in the squad and he hit the bar, smashed the ball off people, defended,up & down the field continuously. Also Aguero had an ok match with his goal.Owen got injured also.
