Ok. I've got a question;

Are all PS3 games region free?

I ask this because I plan to buy the game off Ebay or the like.
I'm Australian, currently living in Australia and as you may well know, we won't be getting this game. Due to the fact we don't have an R18+ game rating here.

Also, do you think my precious copy of Fallout 3 will be seized by the government or the like when it reaches Australia?

Can someone clarify this for me? How is Fallout 3 not being released here, because the main character shoots a strong antibiotic later in the game for an injury. But GTA IV was released here under a MA15+ rating? That games gotta' be worse than Fallout 3, you participate in organised crime!

And Australia will get an edited version of the game, that has been "toned down". So, no drugs in it, or at least they have different names, and the violence and gore will be toned down as well.

Well if I were Australian I would definitely import this title, as it would be no good in a censored version (my opinion). Only problem is you're technically breaking the law in doing so. I am not advising you to break the law, just telling you what I would do.

You're asking if the government would seize it upon arrival, I highly doubt this... I honestly have no Idea, just doubt they'd go through all the trouble.

I'll most likely import it. But I'll have to be extremely unlucky for my particular parcel to be randomly searched.

I won't be getting the edited version, simply because of the fact that it will ruin the entire experience. The blood/gore/drugs were placed there for a reason by the creators. Remove them and your taking the whole experience away.

they said the only changes to the aussie version would be that you no longer see the character do the drugs and they have different names, but the violence is still the same. there was an article in gamegrep a while back, about the changes. it also had a link to the full report from the aussie censorship guys forget their names.

If that's true Gutter_Tech, that's the best news I've heard all day. What you've said that is being cut out I don't mind about, it's the other stuff that I was worried about. Because the more little things you cut out, it ends up being a big part of the game.

There's nothing to importing the game, so feel free to do so if you wish, you wont get in trouble for doing so. Also there's no real point in importing it, it's only a few things that they've toned down, and truth be told these are NOT things that you'll miss.

And Gutter_Tech is correct, the gore level will be the same, only drugs will be missing from the game.

I'm content with buyin' Fallout 3 here. Saves me going through the hassle of importing it. Plus, this way it'll be a lot easier to return it if it stuffs up.

FOR THE LAST TIME EVERYONE IS GETTING THE SAME *bleep*ING VERSION. THEY DID NOT TONE DOWN THE VIOLENCE AT ALL. THEY ONLY CHANGED THE DRUGS A LITTLE BIT!!!!!!!!

Calm down Gutter_Tech, outburts like that wont help you on the interweb. Not everyone is clued up with the latest in gaming news like myself and you. Many people are like the people that work in Game Stores... i.e. clueless.

In any case, Gutter_Tech is correct, there will be no difference between any version of Fallout 3. The only problem they had was the drugs, and so they toned that down, and don't actually show you injecting yourself, which I think is fair play. They've also changed the name of a drug from "Morphine" to "Med-X" which makes more sense since there are other similar named medicines in the game and Fallout universe.

i know i know that was a little much but its on the same freaking page all they have to do is scroll up. i do apologize for the outburst however.

the german version is getting less violence tho under controversy

they keep contradicting themselves. first australia was supposed to get a different version. then everyone is supposed to get the same version. and now the germans are getting shafted. mature titles should have a universal 17+ rating. that way adults can decide if they want the game or not based on its content, instead of editing games for different regions.
