Im currently at kowloon right now and I just saved. I forgot about the mysterious white leaf that is in your inventory...

I believe I got that white leaf back in shenmue 1 and was always puzzled to what it did. Does it do anything???

unfortunately....no. i speculated a while back that it may have something to do with the leaf/duck catching at the back of Man Mo Temple. Perhaps the reason that it was kept in the inventory of the X-Box version of the game was that it was needed in order to unlock the duck?

Was it needed for the duck? I admit it's been a while since I did the duck side-quest, but I don't remember needing the leaf.

Actually, where did Ryo get that leaf? Was it inside the Wulinshu, or in the secret underground part of the Hazuki Dojo? ..or somewhere else altogether

I believe that you got the leaf inside of some little room close to where you get the phoenix mirror. Its been years since I played shenmue so I don't really recall... I have been searching for info for the famous white leaf and still haven't figured to what the heck its used for...

You should watch the Shenmue movie. I really have no clue, but I remember being puzzled by the white leaf as well. And I never did the duck sidequest. Maybe I should play Shenmue 2 again...

Well.. it does look like there could be something there. Shame the photo isn't too clear, but then given it's age it wouldn't be.

Yeah most people do not notice it so i wanted to share it with you. They seemingly removed it from Shenmue 2 and added a new background as a cover-up for it. I do not know why but that's what they did.

That's strange, I wonder why they did. Perhaps they decided to alter the location of where the photo was taken? The one on the right almost looks like the tree outside the Hazuki Dojo but I suppose it is hard to be able to tell for sure.

The tree in photo 2 was said to be the Shenmue tree in Bailu Village. I know this as i found so myself and others have also.If you check the photo in Shenmue 2 on Xbox you can turn the photo over and it says at Bailu Village on the back. Lan Di's father and Iwao were there and anther cool hint is Shenhua's step father had things in there household on the Phoinex mirror. He also carved 2 mirrors in the end of the game before he eitheir vanished nor was kidnapped. You should check the photo in Shenmue 1 to see if that also says Bailu Village on the back.This may be Shenhua's home in which they were at... It could.

Does it say that the photo is in Bailu Village in Shenmue I? I remember reading it off the back of the photo but I am sure that was in Shenmue II. I hadn't considered that the photo could have been taken outside Shenhua's house either.. but was her house actually in Bailu Village? I thought the village was a little further along? Again.. it has been a while since I have played that particular part

I don't know if the photo has Bailu village on the back as my Dreamcast has been sold after i beat Shenmue 1 a while back. Sorry. I recomend looking for photo's on this as you may find some clues... I'll also be looking...

I do know that Shenhua does live at Bailu Village though because once you meet her and walk with her she says she lives on the edge of Bailu Village and in the photo the tree is the same as Shenhua's tree at home so it must be her home in the photo...

Okay, I was curious and looked on my Shenmue games to see which photo was where.


On Shenmue it is the 1st photo with the falling cherry blossoms, the Japanese is on the back but untranslated.

On Shenmue II Dreamcast version it is the 2nd photo without the falling cherry blossoms. The Japanese is on the reverse but left untranslated.

On Shenmue II Xbox version it is the 2nd photo without the falling cherry blossoms with the Japanese on the reverse translated to "at Bailu Village".

Strange, because I could have sworn that the back had read "Iwao and Zhao, at Bailu Village".. where did I get that from??
