discussion Back to Ubers for Latias and Latios?

With Black 2 and White 2 now released, so too did the Soul Dew get released. The Soul Dew was the whole reason why Latias and Latios were Ubers since they were released in RSE. The disappearance of their signature item severely weakened them, and bumped them down from Ubers to OU. But now that their Soul Dew is back, they have the power they once lost back at their command. But do you guys think it will be enough to bring them back to Ubers?

Yes they're insanely powerful with the Soul Dew, and yes they were ubers because of it once before. But will it be enough this generation? A lot has changed in Generation 5, and many new threats and strategies have been created that threaten these two dragons. Ferrothorn seems to be one of the biggest threats. It resists both of their STABS and with great defensive stats it may be a problem for them to take down, especially when their only way of accessing a super effective move against it is through Hidden Power (which isn't very strong).

Another big problem is the rise in the usage of the move Pursuit. With switching out being a very common thing in this game, Pursuit's ability to hit pokemon for a nice amount of damage before they go back to their party is very nice. It's usually used on pokemon like Scizor and Tyranitar who force switches just by their mere presence. These two can cause some serious problems to Latias and Latios. Scizor's steel type, combined with its great attack, ability Technician, and access to moves like Bug Bite (its strongest move while Technician is up AND is super effective against both of the dragons), Bullet Punch (which lets it go before Latias and Latios thanks to Priority), and Pursuit, Scizor can cause some big problems for Latias and Latios. And Tyranitar can be an even bigger problem. Sand Stream will instantly create a Sandstorm, which will chip off 1/16 of their maximum HP each turn. The Sandstorm also gives T-tar a 50% boost to Special Attack, which will be useful for surviving their attacks. Also, Tyranitar's Dark Typing gives it an immunity to one of their STABS, and also gives it a STAB on its Pursuit, which will be devastating on either Latias or Latios.

This being said, the Soul Dew gives both of them a 50% boost to their Special attack and Special defense. This will bring their Special attack and Special defense from already great to super powerful! They'll have Special attack that will rival even Deoxys's offensive power! They'll be able to sweep like no body's business! But with that said, will the boost be enough?

Latios/Latias with Soul Dew is so ridiculously overpowered. Lati@s @ Soul Dew will never be allowed in OU. That would be absurd. Also 2 of the 3 counters you named (Ferro and Scizor) can both be destroyed by HP Fire. While 70 base power isn't much, a big Sp. Atk stat combined with 4x effectiveness is enough to make them fear the Lati twins.

What about T-tar? And Chansey/Blissey? And what about a Specially Defensive Jirach? Will they all be OHKOed by Latias/Latios?

SoulDew is banned in OU iirc, so I doubt it'll be sent to ubers. Lati@s has too many checks and counters

So, in summary I disagree that Latias and Latios will get dumped to ubers especially because of the Soul Dew clause, as well as the upgrades many of their counters received
