um no it isnt. and even if it was thats a completely fail reason to think theyre bullshit. they can nominate whatever the hell game they want as long as it was released in the last year.
reviewers get access to games a lot sooner than we do so they probably had already played it quite a bit. thats bound to happen to some games anyway. i admit it sucks that SC2 wasnt up for GOTY but at least it will win best PC game.
i wonder if that's their only strategies they use or if they went with those names as either a joke or to try to trick opponents. they have to be in a party together, the chances they all managed to get on the same team is slim. still funny though.
if you have a good rig you can run it at max framerate with hundreds of units on screen so i dont see the problem. you might be right about the cloaked unit thing, i havent tried it on low settings.
because of the "wheels" and flamethrower-looking cannon on top, theres speculation it might be a mech form that the Hellion can transform into, to let it take more punishment but make it slower or something.
Raptor? thats one of the Zergling mutation choices you get in the campaign, that or Swarmling. that would be funny if they built a mechanical suit for Lings to wear though.
if it was a battery, PLUS had another ability as well say, Recall or something, would it be OP?
if it is just a battery, it should passively charge shields gradually within its large radius and have an active ability where you can channel its charging down to a Force Field-sized area, but charges shields like 75% instantly. that might be OP for good macroers though. i guess just make it expensive to produce and take up 4-6 supply.
if it was a Corsair remake or another AtA, what would be the point of the Phoenix after? thats why if its flying it should do something unique, and due to the glowing in the center is what made people (and Husky) think it might be shield recharging.
though to me it looks Dark Templar-ish, so maybe something to do with the Void?
wow, so the current plans they have for HOTS are some crazy changes. no more Carriers or Moships? thats might piss off a lot of people. Thor is now massive hero unit and sounds more like the Odin which i think is cool. Hellion can transform so that must be what the Terran unit silhouette is. Zerg sounds stupidly overpowered at least if those auto produced units from the Swarm Host dont take supply. if thats how its gonna be you should only be able to have 1 Swarm Host. will be harder to use cloaked units with the Viper being able to give any unit detection, you wont know what unit to take out first.
they are gonna get so much backlash if they really end up taking out Carriers, tons of people love them. i also think if theyre gonna give Terran a 1-at-a-time unit (the new Thor) they might as well give all 3 one too, so either bring back the Moship and tweak it if it needs to be, or maybe have the Carrier be Protoss's special unit, making it buffer and whatever they need to do? Zerg's special unit should be the Swarm Host, let it pump out infinite no-cost units at certain intervals, but you only get 1 SH.
the Replicant might be good replacement for the Dark Archon's mind control ability for branching into Terran or Zerg tech trees?
what if they gave Carriers an AoE air attack like this new unit has that has to be researched, and made the Interceptors stronger against ground? it just seems silly to me to sacrifice a popular unit for a new one when they could somewhat combine the 2 ideas.
they wouldnt be too good if you increased their resource cost/build time to compensate. they ARE supposed to be capitol ships after all.
ive always felt like Carriers and B Cruisers should be super powerful but cost a ton of resources to make and take up a ton of supply. Terran and Protoss's smaller ships would remain the more cost effective way to go if you want to mass, where as with the capitol ships, you could only have a couple at a time due to their high cost, but they could tank damage like no other and deliver tons of pain. dont know if anyone here has played the Star Battle mod in SC2, but more like that. the ships are a lot stronger and more "capitol ship-y" than in the regular game. theyve always felt weaker than they should be IMO.
so perhaps keep the Tempest in and make Carriers more expensive but able to have 2 or 3 times more Interceptors and stronger shields/armor. just my 2 cents.
