It's actually supposed to be pretty bad. ._.
I got it anyway though (before it goes obscure), but haven't really played it yet.

quote EtherealAccording to who? Its all subjective and you, nor the person who told you are no one to be making such statements. I bought this game and yeah its diffrent, but that doesnt make it bad. Its still a fun game with an intresting plot in my opinon. This message was edited by Zero and X on Sep 21 2007. ------------------- ![]() "Rock and you shall recieve"

Well, all of the reviews I read for it pretty much said the same negative things. I usually find reviews to be pretty accurate, Persona 3 is an awesome game and it definitely got reviewed as such, for example.
But I realize reviews aren't everything, seeing as how I still bought the game anyway.

The reviews for Growlanser Generations were less than glowing as I recall. Most critics complained that the graphics were dated, the games were relatively short (ignoring that they had multiple endings and many side quests), etc.
Growlanser isn't really a conventional RPG so you can expect that a lot of people won't like it. If you insist on games with amazing graphics then you play the latest Final Fantasy game and everything else pales in comparison. Personally I find Final Fantasy games (and most other popular games) extremely tedious; what with all of the repetitive random battles etc. But reviewers love Final Fantasy and any Square Enix game gets the thumbs up. Growlanser is different and some people who like the typical popular rpgs don't like that. Reviews, Schmviews!

quote dave4saleWell, if the graphics were dated, and the game was short, why wouldn't you list that in the review? While I agree that some reviews are somewhat biased, again I think most of them are also accurate. Especially since usually you look at multiple reviews. It's unlikely that 7 or 8 people who all reach roughly the same number are all wrong. According to Gamerankings, who comes up with an average score from multiple sources, Growlanser Generations did very well, not bad at all as you said. All of the reviews put it in the 80's range, except with one at 73, and one as high as 95. I also assure you they don't just rate every Square Enix game an 8 or 9 out of 10. (I don't even like Square Enix or Final Fantasy much myself.) ; Romancing Saga got an appropriate 63% Dawn of Mana a 58% Dirge of Cereberus a 60.3% Drakenguard 65% The Bouncer 61% Unlimited Saga a 52% None of those are great games and the scores reflect that. . . I don't see how it's so bad to look at reviews, which are, for the most part, accessed properly. By all means, go find me some that are rated way off by multiple sources. o___O

Reviews are meant for insight and to see someones opinon on a game. The thing is though those opinons might be biased. In the end thoug its all opinons. to he his own.

Well then! Ok... well! Seeing as how this is an introduction thread I'm gonna go off topic, or on topic, by, well, introducing myself. I am ReasonsUnknown, you might know me from the Shadow of the Colossus forum. I bought this game about a week ago, and I enjoy it. And, honestly, I can see why the game would get some bad reviews. Based on what most games are judged on this seems to be a tad bit outdated (just a tad!). But I judge on overall fun factor and uniqueness, Therefore, I'd recommend this game to some people that enjoy games of this genre (Look it up I wont explain), but I will not recommend it to every one (obviously). I can see this game receiving a lot of semi-underground fans, much like Shadow of the Colossus and Ico. Well damn, I guess I turned this into a very very very very vague semi-review. Oh well!
This is ReasonsUnknown! For all your rantings, reviews, insights, and advice (if I can provide any). ~Pax (peace) ------------------- ~I'm chargin' up mah fireball! ~Oh please no! ~I'ma chargin' it up! ~Oh Gawd noooo!
