i prefer doing prestige rather than pursuing the golden weapons. i get kinda bored and I like to unlock stuff, plus that way I'm not too concerned about getting headshots and I can just play for the fun of it. and there's really only a disadvantage to using golden weapons as they are very shiny and stick out.

no prestige on pc? thats wierd, wander why they excluded it.

can someone explain the point of prestige and golden weapons? I'm new to CoD4.

When you reach the maximum rank (55), you can choose to reset your rank to level 1. If you do this, you lose all your weapons, and all of the progress on the challenges, essentially starting you over at the beginning. In exchange, you get a special medal by your name instead of the military rank. You can do this 10 times (each with a different medal), and your kill/death stats etc are unaffected.

As for golden weapons, they are rewarded if you complete every challenge in a weapon group (All kills/headshots completed).

I've had the golden Dragunov. It's the the only one I've ever wanted to get for three reasons:

1) It's the hardest golden gun to get
2) I've never played against anyone who had one (but have seen every other golden gun)
3) The Dragunov reminded me of playing Stalker, so therefore it's awesome by proximity, just as the Desert Eagle reminded me of playing Soldier of Fortune.

I played with the golden Dragunov for a few days, then got bored of sitting at the end of my first level 55 prestige, so I moved on. I don't regret doing it at all since I love doing all the challenges again.

The only one I ever had was the Golden Desert Eagle which you just automatically get at level 55...

I would like to try and get a gold AK sometime though or what ever gun the golded SMG is (Uzi I think?). Maybe when I get bored of prestige I'll do it.

The only Gold Weapon I'm close to is the AK which I need 150 headshots with it and the MP44.

hmm, ive heard something about getting the mp44, and also the mosin towards the higher levels. is this true?

you only get the MP44.

M60, AK, Dragonouv and Deagle. almost got the Uzi too
