Advice for Successful WiFi Trading
|
Since there have been quite a few people posting threads warning others of possible scam artists on WiFi, I thought I'd pop in here and give you some helpful advice to help keep you from being ripped off.
1. First and foremost, check around before trading with someone! If you're not one hundred percent of who you're doing business with, ask around and look through the WiFi forums for both Diamond and Pearl (this forum) to see if anyone's had any problems with the person that's offered to trade with you. You can also ask one of the moderators in both forums if they recall a thread where the person that's offered to trade with you has had a negative response from other people he/she's traded with. Remember, this is the Internet, and anyone can claim to be anyone or have anything. It's in your best interest to check around first.
2. If you are ripped off, don't come and make a thread about it and shout and tell other people not to trade with whoever ripped you off. Instead, simply respond to your existing trade thread and ask if anyone else is willing to trade because the person that said he/she would trade you what you were looking for wound up taking your Pokemon and running away. Posting a new thread accusing someone of being a scammer isn't that productive to the forums and some people may consider it trolling or flaming, both of which are against the rules, so keeping your cool and using your existing thread to put a "negative mark" on that person's reputation while asking for another person to trade with you is really in everybody's best interests. Also, please don't request that the moderators do anything to the person who supposedly ripped you off. We are not official representatives of Nintendo and thus cannot do anything to them on WiFi. Also, since the event was only arranged through Neoseeker and didn't actually take place on the site, we have no place to punish them on the site if they followed all the rules, so there's really nothing we can do!
