Also - an issue I've been meaning to address - the link that is provided in the PM when GG news is set to be removed often just links to http://www.neoseeker.com/news/11267-/, which is clearly not the article in question (the number is different each time, but the end result is still the same)

In the above example the titles are:

• Japanese Gamers Have Already Gave Up on WiiFit
• 64% of Wii Fit owners don't even use the game.

The problem with trying to match those up as dupes is that the system relies on the article title to determine duplication. Those two titles are very different, in fact, they almost don't have any words in common at all (even WiiFit vs Wii Fit).

And the other problem is the two sources are totally different. We need to start investigating NEW WAYs of helping users identify dupes. Some ideas that might work:

• Showing the users all news posted in the past 72hours relating to the game you are attaching to. (we might have to change the way the submission form works to do this)
• Encouraging users to view the game page of the games you are writing for, where all the latest news is listed. (eg for [img link=Wii Fit]http://www.gamegrep.com/games/wii_fit/[/img])

I'm not really sure what more we can do. This is not a failure of the system, its the fact that detecting dupe articles which use different text is very difficult.

It's been like this for months.
