[Suggestion] More Report Reasons

For instance say if you want to report something to a moderator or administrator because your news was wrong, or you forgot to put something integral like DEMO in the title.

As of right now we only have Spam, Miscategorized, Inappropriate Content, and Duplicate.

How about inaccurate does that count as a possibility? If it's not correct then it should be flagged as incorrect or inaccurate. The good example is "EA Will LOSE $120 million on Potter Delay"

They didn't LOSE that money, it was just shifted to the next fiscal year. So technically the title is inaccurate.

Isn't the point to report accurate and informative NEWS? Are we folding to the pressures put on us by CNN and FOX? Must all news be of a sensationalistic and often inaccurate or misleading nature?

Didn't Adam Sessler just blast the online community for something similar by facilitating the spread of baseless rumors without even a modicum of journalistic integrity? (this is from a post on gamegrep itself by the way, didn't read that one did you?)

So you're more concerned about the number of pages indexed and the number of spiders crawling the site than the actual accuracy and information of the posts on the site. That's an interesting way of looking at things. And I think exactly what he was getting at in his recent article.

Now I'll wait for some other staff member to come and say that I misunderstood what was being said and that it's not accurate because only Deathsythe said it and not a general agreement among all of the members of the staff like has been the case in the past.

But don't you feel that by keeping the inaccurate news to be found by spiders and hence by consumers is actually propagating the false news and continuing to present it as accurate?

The difference between my example and yours is vast. At one time the article you present was true. Never was the title I put forth as an example true. That's the kind of inaccuracy I am speaking about.

I would never flag something because the product ran out on a sale, but I would like to see a way to flag information that is devoid of merit, not only for my own personal reading benefit but for the benefit of all other readers.

Since there's only positive ratings at present how about a negative rating that then lowers the overall rating of the article? Maybe it could be presented on the individual article page X people rated this positive/ Y people negative or something like that so that it cuts down on people having to follow a myriad of links that are just rehashed news which they've already read or worthless drivel altogether.

I just don't see a balance in the rating system at present, it's all positive and that means that even nonsense manages to get 20 or 30 points of rating. An aggregating site should have a finer comb through which it filters the useless flotsam from the Internet so that it presents a more focused view of actual news in my opinion. It helps to keep readers engaged since if someone reads 4 or 5 bogus articles in a row they might simply stop coming here thinking it the majority of the content.

Somehow everyone seems to be missing the point. The point is that they are useless, uninformative and without merit. Or there is a problem with them which should be correct.

But I can see that the wall which is made of the staff here fail to see that and so games journalism continues to devolve into baseless rumors, sensationalistic headlines and articles without merit.

I've said what I have to say on it. This is a suggestions forum and it seems my suggestion has fallen on deaf and unwilling ears and so I will make no further attempts in regards to suggestions as you all seem unbending in your views and do not actually want suggestions, you just want traffic and forum posts regardless of their content and value to your readers.
