Remember guys, no one is saying you would no longer be entitled to having an opinion. While you'd no longer be able to anonymously rate down a comment, you'd still be more than welcome to write a reply and voice your reasons for not agreeing with it.

I still really don't see the issue with it. If there is a major incident - they can take up the fact that their comment is below the threshold with one of the acting GameGrep staff.

Isn't the whole part of this whole ratings system so that we can pseudo-self-govern?

Both positive and negative thumbs would be required for this sort of system to work.

Deathsythe the thing is, The threshold limited has been upgraded so your posts will still be visible even after 5, however answer me how you will feel if your posts that says "I agree with the article" Or "I agree with Final Blade" and gets thumbs down? And believe me this has been going on for months, hell I could be inclined to say for a year. Its alot broader of an issue.

All it is really is a subtle way to display how much statistically the community wants the person who posted the thumbed down comment to shut up.

Italicized is not true. That's why you seem to be thumbed down far more than anyone else. Like I said, abuse of the feature may be relatively common but it's pretty much as DBZ said. Though abuse may be out there, if you're consistently getting -3 thumbs or more then you need to consider that maybe you're legitimately annoying everyone. I think people need to be less concerned about this "thumbs down crew" and just look at things from a broader perspective.

re: Removing "Thumbs down" from comments

Again not true, my posts are all fine. There may be times I disagreed and use points to support it which doesn't deserve thumbs anyway. But all the thumbs - are doing is putting people off the site. I know plenty of people on there who's fed up with it cause people, either fanboys or idiots just thumbing down certain members post, which are good points, for fun. Its abusing the original purpose of the feature.

I don't feel the "thumbs down" should be removed. It's not hurting anyone, and the majority of people who do get thumbed down deserve it anyway.

Funny, because thumbs up/down works across plenty of other websites just fine, people (for the most part). Can take Internet criticism, and to the ones who always get thumbed down regardless: Stop reacting to it. The only reason it happens is because the people who it obviously think the reaction is hilarious. Don't react, and they won't have a reason to do it anymore.

Obviously you would think so, but it doesn't seem anyone else does. Really, you need to learn to be a bit more reasonable and accept the fact that a lot of what you say is either off the mark or just put in the worst manner possible. Like I said, people with -1 thumbs or whatever are typically being hit by the "thumbs down crew" but when you're getting -3 or more regularly then the issue's on you, not everyone else.

I'm going to bring up the point I did earlier, and that's simply allowing people to view comments with -5 or less thumbs if they please, but keep them hidden by default (the same system youtube uses). At least that way people can come back and "fix" some of the comments that have been thumbed down a lot for no reason. Hell, I know I spend quite a bit of time fixing some of the negative thumbs given by people unnecessarily whenever I'm browsing gamegrep and there's probably a few cases where adjustments can be made to comments that have been thumbed down a lot for absolutely no reason.

Im ignoring your post Smoke, cause you seem to not understand the full grasp at the problem. Anyway Xenc or anyone can you please explain why my post here got -3 thumbs down? Another example of how it doesn't deserved it.

right here.

We don't tally (as far as I know) who thumbs down what, or their reason why. In that respect, your guess is as good as ours.

Personally, the way I see it is that you supported a stupid comment, and that's why three people thumbed you down.

Well Finalblade I can see easily why yo got thumbed down for that comment, you agreed with that noob's idiotic post. If you honestly couldn't see some some Final Frame fans giving pissed over both of you then your blind.

Still I support the idea, positive thumbs only in my view, even though I think some should grow a tougher skin to this kind of stuff

Well, Final Blade, I dunno what the hell you said when you joined GameGrep, but apparently you've pissed off enough people to have a cult following behind your posts. Btw, is there anybody else here besides Final Blade who has issues with the system? Because from what I've been following, he's pretty much the only one who's vehemently opposed to it.

Like, Deathsythe said, if there are a few isolated cases, then the GameGrep staff should be contacted to sort things out.

And also if you care to read my link when I was talking about this many people from my knowledge and sources claim to thumb my posts down because im final blade and they hate me. And yes as crazy as that sounds its true and one of them actually admitted they've done it. And thats not fair and not how to use the feature. This will undoubtedly make gamegrep posting better place, knowing the only thing my posts are going to get is thumbs up or just stay at 0, and if they do gets thumbs up they can't be brought down.
This is one of the many reasons why I've been getting mad at gamegrep system with it. Too many people just hating on the member and thumbs them down for no reason.

So my assumptions were right.I had a feeling that you got thumbs down from people just because they didn't like you.

Anyway, I think this is a great idea.I REALLY dislike pople thumbing others down for some childish reason.Someone can the say the most innocent and truthful thing and still be thumbed down for their post.I think it's ridiculous.

Just a long shot of a guess, but laughing and agreeing with people being "Waptards" most likely had something to do with it. If you're that dense to not realize that it's considered offensive, then I can see why you would think everyone is picking on you.
