All it is really is a subtle way to display how much statistically the community wants the person who posted the thumbed down comment to shut up.

I don't feel the "thumbs down" should be removed. It's not hurting anyone, and the majority of people who do get thumbed down deserve it anyway.

I still really don't see the issue with it. If there is a major incident - they can take up the fact that their comment is below the threshold with one of the acting GameGrep staff.

Isn't the whole part of this whole ratings system so that we can pseudo-self-govern?

Both positive and negative thumbs would be required for this sort of system to work.

We don't tally (as far as I know) who thumbs down what, or their reason why. In that respect, your guess is as good as ours.

Personally, the way I see it is that you supported a stupid comment, and that's why three people thumbed you down.

Well Finalblade I can see easily why yo got thumbed down for that comment, you agreed with that noob's idiotic post. If you honestly couldn't see some some Final Frame fans giving pissed over both of you then your blind.

Still I support the idea, positive thumbs only in my view, even though I think some should grow a tougher skin to this kind of stuff
