The guy is new to The Sims, and is just asking a simple question, no need to answer his question in a rude way if he doesn't know the answer.
And it's not actually answering his question at all by just saying to spend 100 dollar more on something, because they are not in The Sims 1.
You could've explained that pets are in the Sims 2: Pets game.

However, I do not appreciate that you insult that person by your guest usernames, and then dare him to ask another question that you think is stupid, so you probably could insult him some more.

Either answer questions in a nice, polite, respectfull and understandable explanation, or don't bother to answer at all.
