Wii-Mote Malfunctions

See, I've been playing RE4 Wii Edition, and I just got to chapter 4-4, and everything is alright, but when I jump over to the island where you fight a barrage of enemies, my wii-mote stops working, and Leon just starts walking where ever he wants and he accepts no commands, I've changed the batteries in the controller, disconnected the nun-chuck and connected it again, and nothing works, and when I get the batteries out of the wii-mote and put them back on, the controller won't turn on, help!, please, I was hoping to play the wii-edition comfortably since someone stole my gc RE4 but since this issue started I haven't been able to play it, please, someone help D;
