My brother got this game on Xbox360 and I absolutely loved it. However, we broke his bass pedal and guitar strummer within like 5 days of purchasing it. Everyone online said they had the same problems and I was wondering if that was an issue for the PS3 gear also?

It's a problem with both games. It's not either system's fault, just a flawed hardware design in the drums and guitar.

Damn it.. then ill probably just wait until they make some sturdier equipment.

They already have return policies in place, plus, I'm pretty sure they're already working on, if not producing, sturdier models.

I have both a broken drum set out of the box, and a broken guitar about 2 days into owning it. It is not console specific as mentioned before. The strum bar wont register correctly on down strums.
I feel it was rushed out for the holiday season without proper testing. This is a wide scale failure.

My guitar would not strum down, big problem since I always strun down. Anyway I brought it back to best buy (different location from where I bought it) and they gave me a new one no problem. It was within the 30 days. I have no problems now. You might want to strum a little easier, it is very sensitive.

Apparently, the new guitars use magnets somehow in the strumbar instead of the leaf springs that always seem to fail. I'm supposed to get a replacement guitar soon, but i'm not sure when.

And i've already had to get a new bass pedal under warranty...i changed the way i use it (top of my foot instead of the whole thing) and haven't had problems since. The drum problems are user issues, not hardware issues. Some drummers slam their whole foot on the kick pedal, but i believe you're only supposed to use the top of your foot to kick.

The drum pedal is just designed badly. It should be able to handle the pedal with no weight, but it still flexes. Try it. Watch the pedal flex under the strain of the spring. The should of had a thin steel bracket to fit under the pedal, or made the plastic thicker.

What's the number you call? I have not had any probs just in case.
