	Log in to remove this advertisement Hmm... It's interesting to see your opinions on this. However, I do agree with you all that Rooney deserves a place in the starting 11 for England. He has a pretty good club record, bagging 19 goals for United in the 2005-06, and 23 in the 2006-07 seasons. I do believe that Peter Crouch has a pretty good goalscoring record for England though, and perhaps deserves a tryout? In any case, I'm sure Rooney will liven up to his reputation as the fantastic striker he is at his club, for England.

	Sven is a successful club manager, was he not a good appointment? England tried to get Arsene and Scolari but got rejected so they did try. Was Maclaren the right choice? Not really but if he remains brave, tries to wean England off 4-4-2 and he has to deal with overpaid, overated team in decline. Wayne Rooney is a very good player who may become world class but he needs to get going for England, Alex Ferguson is a superb manager but still doesn't explain completely the difference between club and country. I suspect quite simply, he doesn't have the world class players around that he does for Man U

Last season he started a lot of his games wide right, with rotation between himslef, Ronaldo and Saha/Giggs. This season he rotates around with Tevez and Ronaldo. With England there doesn't seem to be this freedom. I also don't feel Owen is a good partner for Rooney at all. People rave about the Owen-Heskey partnership but I believe a Rooney-Heskey partnership would be great too.

	but it wouldnt be as good as the owen-heskey partnership. nice to see fat frank on the bench where he belongs. on the manager debate, mclaren should have never been put in the job but the fa were right to look for an english manager. it should have been big sam, he is the best english manager. ------------------- Premiership Pools 07/08 Winner

	Denmark vs. Spain today. Really, really hoping for a draw. That would leave Denmark 1 point behind us and Spain 4 points ahead of us, but it would give us a decent chance to finish in 3rd. 	Spain beat Denmark 3-1, moving 6 points ahead of Northern Ireland who have a game in-hand this Wednesday away to Sweden. If my calculations are correct, we can actually afford to lose to Sweden and still not be knocked out of the qualification race, presuming Sweden beat Spain in Spain and we beat Denmark at Windsor Park. The only reason he still has his job is because he's got such a fantastic group of players who can still pull out results even without a great coaching talent. The only reason he got the job in the first place is becuase of just two comebacks in the UEFA Cup. I think it's a joke that he was picked on the basis of those two performances. O'Neil or Allardyce would of been far better choices. ------------------- ~
