Even players late into the professional game tend to have been playing for teams competitively from a young age. So it's a negative statement yeah, but what do you expect? When I play a match all I concentrate on when I'm getting the ball is my touch and where I'm going to go next. 	Why stop at 40,000? Imagine it's 70,000 every week. That'll get you more than ready for the 12 people on the sidelines and the occasional dog walker strolling past.

	Look for an easy pass as soon as you get the ball. If you're the striker, you job isn't to be providing balls to others. Maybe your partner yes, but your footballing brain will know when he's through or not for you to play that ball. As striker if you do receive the ball you could run at players but since you have a problem doing that - pass, you will soon grow in confidence to then give getting round players a try and I'm sure you have the ability to do so. Just the mental side of things like people have said... so until you grow that confidence, play simple football.

	BazBro Well I'm one of those amateur players who didn't make it. I'm the left back version of rh mate. No one should play football just for the hope of being picked up (which at 15 is highly unlikely considering most players are picked up by the age of 12 when they can just train them) they should play it just to enjoy it. -------------------

You just have to stand out as a player and make the difference. But I'm not playing football just for fun, I'm playing so that I can get into football at any form of level, I enjoy playing it as long as I can keep playing week in week out, I'll be content.

I've improved immensely in every aspect compared to last year, my finishing, speed, skill, passing, everything has improved. A few weeks playing matches on the week and weekend will let me improve at a much faster rate.

	You've improved compared to what? Of course you've improved you're playing regularly, but just because you've improved a bit in the last few months doesn't mean it'll be a constant stream of rapid improvement. I know some quality players compared to some of the teams I've played for, but then they come up against a lower league bit part player like Ray Putterill or Jose Baxter and they struggle. I bet Doyle and Madden were still playing in proper youth leagues before the age of 15 though. 15 is the kind of age when clubs start to let players know whether or not they'll be getting their pro contract, not scouting. -------------------

Then again, it is Ireland, probably not too hard Paul McShane > Jack Wilshere. PEStar, obviously can't tell Doyle from personal experience but Madden was away in Italy when I was 16 and he was 19. He got a call up to Bohemians when he was 20 or 21 I'm sure, then left for Celtic a year or two later. I'm sure it's much different over in England as opposed to here, but it's still possible for big scouts to take interest in players at senior level here.
