It's an assumption that it will encourage growth, we cut the rate of VAT from 17.5% down to 15% for a period to boost business and *bleep* all happened because people just pocketed the savings. The rich already have money to spend and they're choosing not to, it's the middle and lower classes who could use a tax break to start spending more.

Politicians lie is really nothing new. It's not like they have access to wikipedia and factcheckers when they're on stage.

Factcheck is far more reliable than what is clearly a one sided website entitled OBAMALIES with links to buy OBAMA LIES badges. And checking the key one that's used by various media outlets in this country, Romney's been telling far more severe porkies than Obama.

Again. Lower tax. But more regulation. I'm sure they'll find a way around it eventually.

lol. what deficit? the business knows the tax is pretty high, and they're using loopholes to maximize their profit. that's what romney's trying to do, though. Lower the tax, get rid of loopholes, and reduce the deficit.

Ignoring my own cynicism about the likelihood of removing loopholes (especially given we've got Gideon allegedly doing this for us), his methods of reducing it don't add up. He's so far not shown any method for improving the economy that actually checks out and holds up to scrutiny. It's solely based off of an assumption that giving the rich more money will allow them to spend it and let it trickle down through the classes in the form of jobs.

In theory and on it's own, it's the perfect system, in reality with the various factors combined the rich get richer and the poor get poorer.

yeah, i agree that the reality would probably be far off from the theory.

but it can be applied to Obama, really. He practically did the same thing. Unemployment stays the same, more people are on welfare, price of houses went down for over 10%, national debt increased to 50%. i'm pretty sure none of those were things that Obama said in 2008 lol.

In a survey conducted by the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, 80 percent of economic experts agreed that, because of the stimulus, the U.S. unemployment rate was lower at the end of 2010 than it would have been otherwise. That survey was taken this year btw and was independent of the CBO report.

it's not like business can't be regulated. They seek other nations because they'd get more return as opposed to hiring an American. But when they have lower tax, i'd think they can still maximize their income without having to go overseas

So you're advocating paying Americans like third world sweat shop workers (a race to the bottom if ever I saw one) because that is literally the only way that you could reverse the outsourcing trend. Most tax-breaks usually go into the directors' pockets but even if they do decided to reinvest, it's only ever going to be where they get the most bang for their buck.
