Are Malaga that bad off that they've to take your shite squad players? Surely Champions League football can attract a higher level of players at least for this season.

Fantastic summer in terms of transfers. Cazorla, Giroud and Podolski all together cost almost as much as Carroll.
haven't done anything yet. although it will be ironic if you do win finally win something this year, after years of taking the moral high ground on not buying "success"

We've never "taken the moral high ground of not buying success". It was never about morals, just the lack of a sugar daddy. And i still think these investments only took place because we're going to sell Van Persie. The transfer of Cazorla was opportunistic because he was a great player available at a very good price. We would never have gone for him or for another attacking midfielder were it not for that matter in my opinion.
And what do you mean they haven't done anything yet? I'm not talking about their achievements for arsenal. I'm merely remarking that on paper these look like excellent transfers considering their quality, experience, and how much they cost. Which is all I can do at this point really. And I think it would be easy money to bet that they will have a bigger impact than Carroll's, so please tell me what your point is when you say "haven't done anything yet".
Arsenal fans have long berated United, Chelsea, Liverpool, City and Spurs for spending money. Although I do admire Wenger's philosophy, he's constantly made remarks about other teams spending despite being let down by a fair amount of players in the past few years. I do realize that the Emirates would have taken a fair chunk of change but by all accounts it seems he's refused to spend money that's been available. In order to stop the decline he's realized that he has to spend money. He likes to deal with transfers like a business but he has to realize that he needs to speculate to accumulate, especially in todays footballing world. £90million spent in less then a year, some real pressure on him now. Giroud and Podolski were signed before there was a sniff of Van Persie leaving, so that's a null point And they haven't done anything yet for them to be declared "fantastic signings" when they haven't even played a game yet lol. They have the potential to be good signings, despite doubts over Podolski's ability to play for a big club and Giroud's ability to perform in a higher standard of league but how you can gloat over them signings (typical Arsenal trait) when they haven't played for the club yet is beyond me.

Not true. He's spent nearly every penny made available to him. The board talks that they've never turned him down, and that money is available, but the reality is ignoring any income from transfers out, we're run to break even and manage to do that without generating any extra income for transfers. The money that comes in is mostly re-invested, that's why he had to splash out last year because we had to wait until Cesc and Nasri deals had gone through before we could buy.
Wenger and our fans haven't berated other teams for spending money, they've been (rightly) criticised for spending money they don't have, operating at a loss.
And yes, they haven't done anything yet, but on paper they are fantastic signings if you take into account their cost, suitability to our squad and possible impact. That can change if they flop, ofc. Chamakh on a free was a fantastic signing at the time, look how that's turned out. Just a case of you say tomato I say tomato argument that one. Doesn't really work that when written lul.
You splashed out last season because you had to. Wenger's policy of cutting corners had put you deep shit, as was shown by the early season performances. It's seems that he's changed his tune, you would have spent big this summer even if Van Persie hadn't handed in a transfer request anyway. He's berated other teams for spending money they didn't have but you did that in choosing to build a new stadium ,spending money that you didn't have, Other teams have gone about it in another way with the likes of Chelsea and City spending big on players to enable the financial rewards of success . Sure hadn't Abramovic made his money back and more due to the success Chelsea had? and who said Chamakh was a brilliant signing lol? Do Arsenal have a policy on which clubs they'll sell to or is it a free for all? Seems like you're more then willing to sell to any rival cub?

Chelsea owe Abramovic about 700m last I checked. So no I think it's fair to say he hasn't and never will make his money back unless he can sell the club with the debt added on to the price. Fair enough, pretty sure i heard he made his money back a few years ago, when Chelsea were winning trophies. Just seen he's still owed 726million, way off lol.

Considering Llorente's 27 I doubt he'd go to Spurs with no Champions League football.

his relationship with Bielsia has broken down and was booed by the Bilbao fans last week because he won't sign a new contract.

I think he wants a raise because he wants to be on par with the highest earners at the club.

Mexes and Mertesacker would probably be a worse partnership then Bramble and Boumsong were.

quote Praetorian_Lord
For what? Van Persie tries to force a move; has a thinly-veiled dig at the club, Wenger, and in effect his teammates; Wenger goes out and signs three world-class players and starts restructuring the squad (and no doubt training regimens) in preparation for his departure; and then when the ungrateful nearly-30 year-old decides he's having second thoughts, he's promptly sold with 12 months left on his contract and one great and five injury-ridden seasons behind him for 24 million pounds. There's just no pleasing some people.
Some fans will think he hasn't done enough to keep Van Persie after he did some kind of U-turn and also kind of forced Van Persie's hand into joining United by telling him he isn't in Wenger's plans. Wouldn't consider any of the players you've signed "World Class" either.

Far too many basing Podolski on his national team performances. Has anyone actually watched him for Koln?
Stick him up front beside a big striker or in the centre with two players flanking him and he'll be a big hit.Is there any chance Wenger will play with just two up front?

Any chance Wenger plans on using Frimpong as your main defensive/holding midfielder?
