A fair punishment would be paying back the tax.

10 points off cost us any chance of a reasonable crack at the title that we were very much still in with a chance of winning. The fine is a lot when you have no money. The european football would be a punishment we'd have even if we weren't relegated, it's a result of being owned by a newco - I'd probably be much more open to staying in the SPL if we had a chance at Europe, but we don't anyway so there's no point fighting to stay. What other football association would try and give out punishments that aren't in its own rule book? And from a fan's point of view, players leaving and irresponsible owners are very much a punishment. A modicum of common sense needs to be applied. If the last four months haven't been a punishment for Rangers and it's fans, then I don't know what is. We'd love to be able to pay the tax, however we were placed in this situation deliberately by Craig Whyte.

If all this were to happen to your club, I don't think you'd be sitting back saying "it's okay, it's not a real punishment."

You would think you would have it in your head by now the difference between a club and a company. Debt is left with oldco, creditors, still get money back. Why would UEFA need to punish a new club with a 3 year ban? They wouldn't, infact they couldn't.

Once put in div.3 we will have been punished enough. Anyone who thinks other wise is a delusional, bitter hater.

Naimsith's job wasn't to be a goalscorer, yet that's all you seem to be able to mention about him.

Jelavic was undersold, as you know. Again you're back to "Player A went for £X, so Player B can only go for £Y" which is just stupid.

He was our best player last season, including Jelavic who then went on to impress in the top half of the premiership. As has also been said, he had a fantastic season last year as well. He matured relatively late, and turned into an integral player for us (when he wasn't injured, which I accept reduces his value somewhat). He was arguably the best creative player in the SPL last season and all in all has been one of our most influential players over the last couple of years. Which to me merits a price tag of £4 million. I doubt we'll be able to convince you, but that's my opinion of his value, which really isn't unreasonable imo.

Worrying times for us. I'd like to think he wouldn't just throw away over £5 million to piss off Brown. If he did actually follow through with that threat, who knows what the wilder fringes of our support would try and do.

Wow this is an amazing post. Berating his lack of understanding of the difference between a club and company and then making the same mistake within the same paragraph. Astounding. Oh STV are reporting 5 clubs could go bust? Must be true then. It's amazing how some people even after the last 5 months still don't get that reports like these are written by guys who know nothing. How many times were we told Rangers had "cut a deal" with HMRC. Or The Big Tax Case verdict was about to be announced. Or that Rangers would never be liquidated. Or that Rangers would 100% be playing SPL football next season. Stop reading the shite these people write to fill their space and instead just read the quote (if any!) in the article. Anything else is that person's own imagination and not fact.

The media can report on any sort of plan they want. If the plan doesn't get enough votes from clubs it won't happen. Aberdeen have already come out against this latest restructuring idea.

And to all those saying nobody would be getting upset if this was St Mirren etc. That's because there wouldn't even be any talk of letting them into the football league anywhere other than Division 3! It's because it's Rangers that the media are desperate for them to still be in the SPL so it's because it's Rangers that fans are having to be vocal against this idiotic idea.

That's true, but the 10 point deduction was just the generic punishment for administration. It Ignores the debt. Starting over in Division 1/3 will certainly harm you, no doubt, but it's not really a punishment at all, it's simply the consequence of how you are dealing with the debt.
