I could have supported Darlington instead of Middlesbrough. Must be a glory supporter Think it's safe to say you made the right decision. Poor Darlo.

lol. ive been in this debate far too many times. there are a lot of variables and each person is different shit fans don't have to be gloryhunters though, while gloryhunters are generally shit fans. I know. But glory fans might as well not exist, they're not worth of speaking about. Glory fan, shit fan, whatever.

so it's quite easy to just gradually support a team less and less until you dont give a shit about them anymore, it's just whether you want to admit it or not tbh
Definitely. The thing is, shit fans like to use this against people who stopped supporting their big glory team to start supporting their local team. Most people who don't have anyone to influence the team they support will start off supporting a big team and as you say it's pretty easy to stop supporting them over a period of time and support said local team. *just read that back and it's worded terribly but rewriting is long

i dunno i don't really get people who can easily disown a team and start supporting another though if you did/do go to games
My parents split up when I was younger and my dad worked in Liverpool so i used to go every over every so often and he'd bring me to games. He passed away and i'd no way to get over to go and see games. Started going to Rovers games but it wasn't really the same after a win/defeat and it still isn't despite the fact i've gone to more then half of their games every season since 05.
It's really quite easy, especially when the reason you supported your chosen team in the first place was because they were the first team you played as on FIFA 2004. Let's see, I could support Arsenal, get to the odd game here and there (whilst paying extortionate prices) probably meet no new people as I'd only be there for the duration of the match and then I'd be back off up north to Chesterfield or I could support my local club, meet and befriend new people (I'd say I've made 30+ friends just from going to watch Town) and have a drink or five with my friends. Hmm. Tough choice.

Yeah but see, some people don't 'support' a team just because they were the first team they played as on FIFA 04 Clearly you had little to no love towards Arsenal properly. Like, you can't really compare that to say, me supporting Liverpool. I am aware of that. And debatable - I was Arsenal crazy at the time, I went to most away games, I got all the shirts, the full kits, posters etc. even that god awful Arsenal Club Football game (all the big british clubs had one). I was around 14 (13?) when I stopped supporting them so it would be very different to someone of your age deciding to change clubs.

s really quite easy, especially when the reason you supported your chosen team in the first place was because they were the first team you played as on FIFA 2004. that's fair enough but you went to Arsenal games didn't you? That horrible gut feeling you get when Chesterfield lose did you never get when Arsenal lost? fwiw it's worth I know i'm both a shit fan and a gloryhunter and not trying to deny anything. I wasn't accusing you of anything btw, I don't really care how people support their teams nowadays (although people like Chinowhelan piss me off). It was different - when I supported Arsenal I was younger and a massive mard-arsed little brat, I would refuse to watch MOTD when they drew lol. I cried when they lost the CL final and threw stuff all over the place, it can't really be compared to how I react when Chesterfield lose. Expectations change when you support a lower league club so when we lose it doesn't bother me too much but it's circumstantial. Usually if we lose I'll just drink some more with my friends and then go out and get highbury high'd. I guess I sometimes sulk for a while. You get used to losing. I'm sure you know what it feels like to be shit especially after last season

No. Don't really have a problem with glory hunters if they try and get to a few games but what i can't understand is the ones that have never been to a game ever and have no plans to. Coventry might be shit but I probably look forward to the day itself (socialising and shit) rather than the actual 90 minutes. Especially at away games.
Our favourite line for away games (and a lot of home games, too) is 'a good day spoilt by 90 minutes'.

No, the Don Valley is in Sheffield, biggest shithole of a stadium I've ever seen
Ah, just googled and apparently they're moving back to Rovrum this upcoming season. Thought it was strange they'd play in Sheffield. their new stadium will have been their third in like 5 years or so lol. thank god they're moving, don valley is the worst ground i've ever been to (mainly because it wasn't built to be a football stadium)
