You don't support Ireland, or care about them, but from my prospective team who would you propose I make captain instead? It would be between Andrews, Kelly and O'Shea. O'Shea has no character which rules him out, so its between Kelly and Andrews, and can't imagine Kelly being Ireland captain.

Preferably I'd drop Andrews, play Gibson and make McCarthy captain but put Andrews in for the heart he showed in Euro 2012.

If McCarthy played like he did at backend of season for Wigan, Gibson exerts himself more on the pitch, McGeady on form, Ireland playing like he did for us when he started with us, McClean continuing on his form from last season and the Long who was unplayable against Uruguay we would cause a lot of teams problems and at least stop the ridiculousness of any teams playing us and dominating

Andrews did well and all, but there's no way we should be looking to him to lead our team as captain or to be starting. 2016, he'll be 36?! How is that a good age?! When he's technically inept right now. CMs wee actually have a few interesting young options in McCarthy, Gibson, Hoolahan, Wilson, Clark, Fahey, Ireland etc


Andrews was one of our better players of the tournament (not saying much at all), but that doesn't mean he gets a free pass to continue being average for 4 more years over more talented younger players. 'He showed heart' means bollocks all if we actually want to do well.

I invite him to prove me wrong at Bolton, but if we mean business, he can't be starting for the WCQs.

I have no problem with a Championship player being captain but I don't really see a reason for Dunne to be dropped just yet, make him captain.
