Spending £150m or whatever on shite doesn't make £6m cheap.


If anything, I'd say it makes it more expensive seeing as these signings were supposed to be making the core of the team for the next 5 years or so.

Put it this way, you can hardly call a £6m signing a low risk signing. I don't care if you're Barcelona, Liverpool or Huddersfield Town.


Just because you can afford more doesn't make it cheap.

In relation to transfers in general? No. In relation to Premiership signings? Again, I'll say no. In relation to your other signings? Maybe. In relation to signings made by teams with a similar stature to you? Possibly.

In relation to young English (I don't give a *bleep* what national team he plays for, he's English) talent, £6m is cheap. I never said it's cheap out of context though, but it is relatively cheap. Look at how much Walcott, Oxlade-Chamberlain and Wickham went for and how much Premier League experience they had. Hell, just look at Carroll. Torres - £15m for a young English player with only half a season in the Premier League. *bleep* it, we could just stick with Liverpool, look at Henderson. He's had as much experience in the Premier League as Moses and he cost £13m.

Relative to other young English talent and Liverpool's signings, £6m is cheap. Again, relative, not in general.

Mind you, with you saying £6m isn't cheap, it's made me think of some of the players we've signed around that price. Biscan, Diouf, Kirkland, Ziege, Morientes, Dosenna...disgraceful.

Objectively, any figure thrown around in football isn't cheap. £10,000 a week isn't cheap.

Hardly.

Was playing really well for us in the Championship, cost Spurs about £5m for someone with years of potential. There were clauses in the transfer, but none were met cos Rupert Lowe was a *bleep*ing *bleep* and took Tommy *bleep*ing Forecast as a substitution for the clauses.

Regarding transfers, in general (as I stated before), £6m is not cheap, no. But relatively, considering it's Liverpool and considering it's a young English talent, £6m could be classed as on-the-cheap. We shouldn't be having this argument to be honest, I agree with you. D:

Yeah, of course more fees will be under £6m - most teams transfer record isn't even £6m. Elmander wasn't far over that was he?

I guess what I'm trying to say is, of course to Bolton fans, £6m isn't cheap, but to a Liverpool fan, considering we've just bloody spent £20m on Downing, it's not exactly expensive. That's not meant to sound elitist, it's just the way things are.

A £400 handbag sounds stupidly expensive to me, but to those spending upwards of £2,000 on Gucci bags, it's cheap.

£8.2m and Braaten. Some Bolton fans will have you believe it's £14m but they're idiots (and must value Braaten at £5.8m!). Anelka was £8m as well. Most expensive after that was Cahill/Muamba at £5m (Taylor as well if he matched the appearance fee # which iirc he did), and that was only because we'd sold Anelka for £15m.

I still wouldn't say cheap, even for Liverpool fans. Just less expensive. /pedant
