Regarding us going up against the bigger teams, it's a bit irrelevant really, we won't aim to go for the players that the rest of the top 6 will, we won't try and overhaul our squad, I'd wager that the majority of the starting XI will remain the same, only RB needs urgently looking at. We probably won't keep up with it next year, think the target has to be a strong European run and a top 7 or 8 finish, depending on how Europe goes a domestic cup run would be good, got to win something to really make this team. I've heard rumours of us wanting to bring in some new players this summer and it's something that does need to happen. Kalou and Drogba are both out of contract in the summer and there's been no agreements with that yet. Players like Malouda, Hilario etc. should be sold because they aren't good enough anymore. And so we'll have to bring in some younger players to replace them! However, my comment was a bit tongue in cheek .. I'm saying it's due mainly because we do need to bring in couple more players and then I think we can challenge again next season. A lot depends on the new manager though. I think we do need to adjust slightly, but I'm sure we'll spend within the rules because I don't think we're stupid enough to go against it all. I'm not saying you would go for the same players as the top 6 .. My point was more they can bring in some top players on bigger wages whereas that's something that you can't really do. Your squad has done brilliantly this season so there isn't much reason to change .. It's just the teams around you could spend and improve so that's what could be your problem next season. 	I reckon Newcastle will be in a much better shape for next season than Chelsea. They are much grounded and already have their team sorted provided they don't lose anyone(which i know is asking much, lol). Then they can only really improve. Whereas Chelsea needs to work out what we need. We're still in a bit of a mumble with no manager sorted for next season and losing more key players. The Financial fair thing is a very fair point hence the Marko Marin signing. I don't see us spending big anymore, and nor should we. It's time to work with the players we have instead of just splashing nilly willy. Tbh, there isn't anything to replace except maybe a right winger unless Kalou signs with us. We should make CL place a priority than the title, imo. And we should easily beat Blackburn. Hoping to see our CL line-up this weekend. -------------------

The squad and first team is decent enough, but we weren't helped by poor management and tactical decisions from AVB this season. Bring in the right manager next season and it'll all be different. However, we've got to wait until we get a new manager because they'll have ideas on who they want to bring in etc. When I said about challenging I meant for the Champions League spots .. I should've made that clearer! I do agree that it's important we gain a Champions League spot again next season. Losing more key players? Hardly .. Drogba is the only 'key' player we're in danger of losing and bar the last 2 months, he's been poor the rest of the season. Kalou is hardly a key player and we've already signed Marin who's most likely going to take up his spot. Drogba's situation is a difficult one though .. Yes, I'd like him to stay because of his experience and ability to pull it out of the bag when needed but then again he's too inconsistent and only turns it on when it suits him really. Marin has been bought in and it does make you wonder whether it's to replace Malouda or Kalou or even both. We've got that De Bruyne too but I think we're loaning him out. Kalou isn't key in my eyes. Yes, he's played a lot recently but I don't think he's good enough to be first team. I think central midfield is the part we need to focus most upon in terms of improvement for next season. Lampard is getting on a bit and even though Mikel has shown improvement I still don't think we should be relying on him in the middle next season. And Essien isn't the player he once was. 	I don't think we'll be massively behind next season, Arsenal could lose RVP which would be massive, Spurs could also lose Bale and Modric, Chelsea are still rebuilding somewhat, plus the managerial situation, who knows if the manager will adopt a new style or whatever, and Liverpool don't look like capable of running away with a CL spot to me at the moment. Still be a monumental achievement if we got Champions League but I think we'll be in the mix at points next year. ------------------- Hero.

Long-ish contract and so we'll just ask for silly money. Up the blues for the title:p He's only had half a season at this level, noone is going to make an offer we feel matches his worth I doubt. At the moment, he's worth around £30M to us, but noone else would probably rate him as much (inb4 LIVERPOOL LOL) based on half a season. Only big players I see having the possibility of leaving are Tiote and Ba. ------------------- Hero.
