Before we played against Norwich, when was the last time Gerrard played off the front? Seems like an eternity ago, and that was his best game for us in awhile. It's annoyed me seeing him playing deeper this season, he's just much better further up.

Hopefully when Lucas comes back, he can partner Henderson in the middle with Gerrard in front of him, Carroll up top and Suarez and a new face either side. Adam or Shelvey can come in to give Henderson a break every now and again, and Spearing can replace Lucas on the odd occasion.

He was shite in 07-08, which is why rafa tried to replace him with barry. Something people fail to mention when using benitez trying to sell xabi as a stick to beat him with

Mascherano Xabi Gerrard Torres was a dream yes, but Lucas Gerrard Suarez is class too. Hopefully we can find another good centre mid instead of Adam/Henderson as first choice. Or, a quality striker

Don't think i've ever seen alonso get any criticism though for his madrid performances though. Barry seems to get it from all the idiots based on a few poor england performances.

Spearing and Guthrie are pretty different players, if I had to pick one of the two I'd pick Guthrie everyday of the week though.

Don't see why you can't use Alonso to dispute Benitez, it did all backfire on him, regardless of Alonso's form the previous season, he clearly should have stuck with him (easy to say in hindsight but he's a manager, he should know this), which he ended up having to, and he was great, but the damage was done.
