I thought reading the liverpool fan trying to convince himself and others that Liverpool are progressing was quite hilarious, thanks for that.
You can talk about hitting the post, injuries and bad luck all you want, the fact of the matter is, if you're good enough you'll still win despite all that. Granted you'll lose a couple of points in the season but those excuses mean nothing, especially when you've invested a shitload of money into your playing squad. I mean the injuries shouldn't affect you so much then. Take the case of Lucas for example, it's very comparable to Wilshere and while a player of his stature and his importance was definitely a big loss, we managed to limit that loss.
As for Liverpool playing great, I think you're just comparing to last year. Get over yourselves, it's nothing spectacular.

It's clear to see the Liverpool team sheet is ridiculously average nowadays. And the fact that you consider Bellamy, Adams, Carrlol and Henderson the "core" of your team just proves that point. But please carry on trying to convince us about this mythical "progress" you seem so capable of spelling.

Yep, such an average bunch of players who played better than your lot on two occasions this season.

I am comparing to last year, but still we played better than most of our opposition this season.

I'm not blaming everything on bad luck by hitting the post. I've stated numerous times that it's a much easier task to convert those chances next season instead of having to learn how to play football which is what we had to do last year.

Can't compare Wilshire to Lucas.

And i've already shown how we've progressed slightly. Better football factor aside, the next level of progress would have been to reach 4th. As i've stated, i'd rather finish 7th with a Carling Cup win (and maybe FA Cup) than finish 5th without anything.

Aye, it's obvious we haven't had our money's worth. We did need to buy British players though, and like i said there aren't that many decent ones to choose from. It had to be done. It's painful to think we had 100mil and those were the players we bought with it, but buying more British players had to be done really, and Carroll cost £35mil of that, money which we only paid because of Torres.

Besides, those signings at the time seemed great tbf, albeit overpriced. I remember everyone saying how impressed they were with who we were bringing in, and how good our squad was starting to look.

And yeah i think Lucas is a lot more vital to us than Wilshire is to Arsenal.

To who? I'm fairly sure I wasn't the only one questioning you spending more than what our starting 11 cost yesterday on Stewart Downing, I'm certain not that many people thought Downing was gonna be a cracking signing. A man who I have literally seen dribble a ball out play under no pressure.

And stop saying Carroll is justified cause Torres cost £15 million more, you didn't have to *bleep*ing buy him.

Also, if you needed British players then Cahill would have gone for about £10 million, if all you really care about is an English player to go homegrown then NRC was free.

And Lucas is more vital cause your back-up is Jay Spearing while Arsenal's is Arteta/Ramsey cause they went and got depth rather than spending ridiculous amounts of money on shit individuals.

Lucas was our most important player before his injury, by a country mile.

Btw, i know we could have spent our money better, but we also brought in more than £100mil since last year if people don't realise that.

DIOS Way I see it, we wanted Carroll, we paid them what they wanted using Chelsea's money. We basically swapped Torres for Carroll & Suarez, 2 players who were actually on my wishlist at the time. And i remember a good few people on this forum saying they were impressed with the squad we were building. Why wouldn't they have? Each player impressed before we signed them. And more importantly, in the Premier League for a change, because usually we were buying foreigners who couldn't cut it. It's strange really, all that money we spent in the summer, and our 3 cheapest signings have arguably been our best: Enrique 5mil Adam 6mil Bellamy free. Well, Adam hasn't been that good, but he's had quite a lot of assists. (about 15ish i think in all comps.)

Sex Getting the results is something we need to work on, that's the next step of course. The first step was to start playing better and create chances. Don't want to keep on about it but in other games those chances that hit the woodwork would go in.

Well for a start Lucas and Wilshire do not play the same roles and as i said, Lucas is more important to us.

Last two years, Liverpool brought in £106 million (£50 million of that Torres) and spent £137 million (£35 million of that on Carroll).

I'd say that's fair for players adapting to another country and culture, but Carroll came from Newcastle ffs, not New Guinea.
