No point developing youth if they are just going to move at their peaks. They can't really stay in transition forever. Can't see them in the top four without some serious buys going straight into the starting line up.

That's true, they will be more inclined to stay. But I think even those players would look a move away if the were not winning things at Arsenal. And the chances of that happening look pretty bleak without Fabregas and now Nasri. As much as they are committed now there needs to be something stopping them pulling an Andy Carroll in the future.

As for names, not a clue. Cahill > Dann/Jagielka is the only preference I can really have.

Not think you need a new Right back aswell? I know Jenkinson played on the weekend but he's really raw and inexperienced. If Sagna was to get injured for an extended period it could be risky.

Jenkinson is decent back up tbh, done well so far. Lets just judge Wenger in a weeks time yeah? Hoping he can pull something out of the bag with a couple big signings at least. A CB to partner Tommy V at the back and an experienced CM being top of the list for me.

Wenger has been gradually getting worse over the past 6/7 years.

Can't believe Arsenal fans are still backing him, I know he has done a lot in his time there, but the club are miles behind the other 3 at the moment.

Apparently Wilshere could be out for two months after injuring himself in training.

Feeling sorry for you guys at the moment, getting no luck at all.

Boohoo, they're in the Champions League and still have a squad that surpasses most in Europe. You should be loving it, far better chance of you qualifying for the CL while Arsenal are spectacularly imploding.

Would seem hypocritical of me to gloat about them losing their best player(s) when we could possibly be in the same position at the end of the window.

Sebastien Coates is heading to either Liverpool/City, so presumably whoever wins that (hope we have a go, cheaper/younger than Cahill and impressed at the Copa America) will drop out of the race for Dann/Cahill. Personally think we'll sign Cahill and Dann'll be off to the Emirates.

Also Lille won't sell Hazard to Arsenal, apparently they weren't too impressed with how the Gervinho situation was dealt with and they won't want to lose their two best players in the same window.

Szczesny joined you at the same age as Fab did. It's also a bit redundant to applaud the loyalty of players that aren't yet at the level where Barcelona will hound them or City throw bags of money at them.

Wilshere is almost there though, but I agree he seems to genuinely love the club. Part of it is the English thing. You grow up supporting Manchester United or Arsenal and it's who you're going to want to play for. So many of the European players grow up supporting local Dutch, French, Portuguese, Swiss, Danish clubs etc and therefore when the big guns like Real or Barca, with their history, money, glamour and climate/city come after them they have no loyalty to English clubs.

Partly why I think Ferguson has made a concerted effort to concentrate on English players recently in Jones, Smalling, Young and his giving Welbeck and Cleverley a real chance.

Wouldn't be hypocritical unless you had a go at them for doing that Think it'll be interesting to see who Wenger signs, he's had his critics this transfer window, but I think he'll find it hard to get proven quality at the price he wants to pay.
