Wayne Rooney

Always knew he would stay. I want to know what made him do all this shit though. Hopefully the glazers have shown him that deals are in place for big players in January or something then, becase after he came out with what he did, I can't see him being promised new players to sign a new deal without any evidence of these deals being shown..

Rooney (if the reports are true) was in the same boat as a lot of the fans, wanting assurances about the future of the club. The fans who are opposing the Glazers are doing the same as Rooney (on a much smaller scale yes, but same principle) they are turning their backs on the club, until they get what they want. It seems to me all Rooney wanted was the assurance that the club can still compete for years to come, I mean Rooney didn't come out and slate the club, or Fergie or the fans or anything, he just said that he wasn't given the assurances he wanted, so he was going to leave. Everyone in this world looks out for number 1, footballers are no different to others.

Jimbo, 1, I don't think we will finish 5th this season, but if we do, then I would like to think Rooney would stay at least one more year to try to get the club back to the top, but it all depends on what the club do in the transfer market, I mean if we finish 5th this season, and then in the summer don't bring in anyone/anyone decent then Rooney would have been lied to about the future of the club and the ability to compete, so I wouldn't blame him if he left. But we ain't going to finish 5th so meh..

You could see from Fergie's interview when he said Rooney wants to leave how shocked he was, he probably didn't even know himself until it hit the media and Rooney said something to him.

Hopefully they do what Fletcher etc did when Roy Keane slated them.

He is doing what is best for the club though, as he always does. He has seen the Ronaldo money come and go straight to the banks, so what is the point in selling our best player and not spending anything to replace him. The short-term financial gain from the Rooney sale would be far outweighed by the long-term lack of sucess/money Rooney would bring to the club, and Ferguson knew that.
