Hyundai A-League (Australian football)

With the season kicking off next Thursday, things surely should be interesting.

The league has just expanded to 11 teams with Melbourne Heart joining the frame.

Teams will still play each other 3 times, making it 30 games per side including the end of season Finals.

Perth Glory FC v North Queensland Fury

Sydney FC v Melbourne Victory FC

Round 1 plays host to some very exciting matches. Heart play their debut game at home to Central Coast on Thursday at the brand new AAMI Park (hopefully should be going).

Probably the pick of the round is the Grand Final rematch between Sydney and Melbourne Victory. Would of loved to made the trip North to watch the game but unfortunately I got a wedding Should be a good game though.

Another game to look forward to is the Gold Coast and Brisbane game which last time they fought it out, it ended Gold Coast 5-1 winners.

Wellington get the week off with the first bye.

Really excited for this season to kick off and really looking forward to the first Melbourne derby.


Thought I'd make a new thread for the new season.

Yeah it seems everyone has recruited well, we desperately need at least 1 new striker. Djite has been heavily linked, I always said he left Australia too early. He would be the replacement striker we never got when Allsopp left and he could work well with both Kruse and Dugandzic (who will feature more this season), and of course Archie when he gets back. Although there is news that there is a foreign striker signing, no word on a name though.

Did you go to the friendly against Central Coast cos it was in Tassy?

Merrick has come out and said that we are looking for a back up player for Kemp and an experienced striker in the mould of Archie. Both could be from overseas.

Also Archie says his injury is ahead of scheduled and hopes to return before Christmas.

I hope Glory hit the growd with both feet running tonight, and get a 2 or 3-0 win to start the season on a bright note. Very excited to see Fowler in a Glory jersey in his first competitive game, although we are without Baird and Mitchell [due to their Romanian club having not released them yet] and Andy Todd due to injury. Chris Coyne is still on loan in China, but his performances for the majority of last season makes me happy about this. Mile Sterjovski has been battling illness this week, as have other players and staff; but they should all come through.

My main question is though; when will be see a Billy in a Glory jersey again? D:

Who does Robbie Fowler play for now? I remember hearing about his tuft with Fury. Just turned the Adelaide game on, which watch the second half.
