Fair play to Man Utd, good determined peformance from them, Vidic had a good game and didn't look shaky. Pepe was unlucky to concede the first goal, but can't do anything about that.

Say what you like about little Bolton, maybe Rafa should start looking at players at clubs our size, because the other big clubs are, and they are getting bargains.

Gary Cahill is a better defender(and younger) than Agger, Skertl, Kyriagkos and (on his current form) Carragher.

Lee is a much better winger than the likes of Babel, Riera or Maxi.

Maybe thats Rafa and Liverpools problem. Happy to spend 20M on Aquilani- never fit, quite frankly doesn't look all that good whenever he does play. Fergie goes and gets Premier League proven players, Antonio Valencia might only have done it at (little) Wigan, but he looks a hell of a better purchase than anyone Rafa has brought too Liverpool since he brought Torres in.

Defend Rafa all you like the fact is he has spent alot of money(even if he has balanced the books too by selling a few of the better players) 1/2 the squad are nowhere near good enough to be playing for Liverpool and you have gone a long way backwards in the past year.

I can't actually read your other post properly, so I can't really comment. If the point is that we had lower expectations then that's a pretty stupid argument, he still bought better players for our level than Benitez has for his. Ergo, he's better in the transfer market.

It;s easier to buy player on a budget when you're expected to finsh in between midtable and relegation than when you're expected to win the league. Rafa still managed to buy players on a budget and finish second but it';s only so long that can carry on. He's overachieved on his budget, but people never give him credit for it.

Which would make sense if it was the same budget being spent, but you just spent £40 million on two players, our team combined probably didn't cost that.
Megson bought better players for our lower level with a lower amount of money than Benitez did, therefore Megson's better in terms of buying players.

Also, a large part of your argument is that Benitez sells players for a profit in terms of what he bought them for, which firstly ignores wages, and secondly is somewhat pointless if he doesn't buy adequate players with that profit.

He's looked good since he came back from the back injury though, which apparently was more severe than anyone thought and could've ended his career/put him in a Ledley King situation. He was playing with injury/not right for a lot of the start of the season and last season, the way he got left for dead by Torres at Anfield earlier in the season, everyone knew that's not the real Rio Ferdinand.

Yes he did poorly on the goal today but since he's come back he's looked a lot sharper, and once he returns to full match fitness he will prove to everyone what a top defender he is. I think I read a stat today about Ferdinand, 0 fouls in the 8 games he's played for United since his return from injury. Clean sheets left right and centre. That is the Rio Ferdinand I'm talking about. World Class.

Two seasons ago Rio shat on every single top forward in European football, Eto'o, Adebayor, Torres, Drogba.. everybody. If a defender ever deserved to win the Ballon D'or, well then it was that year. I'm nearly 100% certain that if he can return to full fitness, and the signs seem to be that he's over the back problems, then Rio the World Class defender will return.

Although even at this current point in time, I'd take Rio all day over Agger, whos not exactly free from injury himself.

Too injury prone to be world class.
