Ditto Rob Green, i really don't rate him one bit(thats ignoring his yearly mistakes vs us) but he looks so unconvincing. Bolton fans were chanting England's number 5 last night, I thought they were being rather kind, I'd have him at around England's number 7/8.

Wba-4-ever, i remember you mentioning it last time but i actually disagree. I think you can distinguish between how good a shot-stopper a keeper is, and i actually think its the main component of how a goalkeeper should be judged.

A keepers job, first is to keep the ball out, second to this is how he does it.(communication and commanding the defence etc. are all ways to help aid you stop goals going in) but once you get past the defence, it comes down to the goalkeeper, and whether he can stop the ball going in-'shot stopping'.

Theres a difference between simple shot stopping and stuff such as reflex saves, tipping the ball to safety, position in the goal(relating to making saves), one on ones and more. Put it all together you get how good a "shot-stopper" you are.

As DIOS alluded to- Jussi is a perfect example.

He has to be considered one of the best keepers in the PL at the moment(and of all-time), i'd put him in the top two with Given of the current crop.

However communication- below average. commanding area- below average kicking-woeful.

If those were the key areas for a keeper Jussi would not be PL class.

All the mini catagories i mentioned before, put them next to Jussi's name. Jussi imo is in the top few in the world. Reflex saves, one on ones Jussi is world class at. As such why he is a world class shot-stopper and why i do believe it is a valid part of a goalkeepers game- and that some are better than others.

I agree the sections that you mentioned are important for a goalkeeper- however i do think that the bare essential aim for a goalkeeper- to stop shots passing him by whatever means possible is more important than others and that Jussi is the perfect example of someone who has weak areas in his game- yet he is still one of the best in the league.

One other thing that makes a goalkeeper-consistancy. Jussi has it. Given has it. All the top keepers around the world have it.

Agree with everything you've said apart from Cole, Haz. Zamora in some friendlies first. No chance for C.Cole, he hasn't scored enough goals, and he's even said he doesn't deserve to be in the squad. Trying to get a little bit of sympathy some would think.

Scholes is the most deserving, but I don't like the idea of players sitting out the whole qualifying campaigns by choice, then doing a sudden U-turn when the chance to play at the finals comes along. I like Hargreaves but he's only played 1 minute in about a year and a half. How exactly does that show he should be in the team over players who've been playing all season to try and get in this squad? He'll probably only get injured out there anyway.

What does it say to the younger players who've had good seasons or just players at smaller clubs; Shawcross, Jagielka, Cahill, Parker that Fabio feels he needs to rely on 30+ year old retired players and someone who has only played sixty seconds of football this year.

Well considering the bulk of the squad have failed at numerous tournements now I wouldn't have Lampard, Barry, Carrick, Ferdinand or Green in the squad.

If there are failed ones who are 'too good' to drop or no-one nearly as good to replace them (likes of Gerrard and Terry) then ok, definitely have them in, but otherwise, to quote Owen Hart, enough is enough and it's time for a change!
