I'm with High Road on this one... yet another post of Jess C's I disagree with.

How can you say Rooney, who always works his bollocks off, Ibrahimovic who's had a great start at Barca and was superb at Inter Milan and Drogba who's showing possibly his finest form ever in a Chelsea shirt are there just on reputation ???

The only debatable one there is Kaka who hasn't really done anything for the last couple of years.

Reputation, reputation, reputation, reputation... it seems like these awards become more and more pointless every year.

Hardly, the deserving best player nearly every year wins the award. Doesn't matter about the nominees and besides I don't have any major objections with the nominees.

Messi to win it, Xavi and Iniesta deserve it just as much but Messi will win it because he is the star player of that great Barcelona team, therefore will get the main plaudits. Just like Ronaldo last year, he was going well all year and scored in the Champions' League final too when the spotlight was on, so if Messi wins I don't think anyone can possibly complain.

Kaka is the only debatable one for me, and he broke the world transfer record this year, albeit for a week, so really it would be impossible not to include him.

It seems like you threw Rooney in there so that you could avoid being called biased as well tbh .

To be fair to him, he hadn't played for 6 weeks and his first game back was against the European champions...I think the rest of the year shows more about him.

Whats your point? He was inspirational last season. Leading his team to a record points tally in a 38 game season. He scored 24 goals. A career high for him. Thats more than Drogba, Kaka & Wayne Rooney.

I just don't see how thee is worthy of being in thy list. Also, full list of nominee's;

Thee just doth not stand out as a player who makes me think amazing. Yes thee is a good player but he seems to be able to not be consistent. It would be a lot easier for thee to get thy point across without speaking like Shakespeare.

*bleep*ing hell. Nobody on here particularly likes Gerrard, but I think everyone, or at least most is in agreement Gerrard is a world class player. Never mind amazing. Good is an insult. 24 goals, 16 in the league last season seems particularly consistent to me. Not to mention being consistently great all his career. Id give you not consistent this season, but thats because he has been forced to play injured/through pain/not 100% fit.

The only thing you could say about Gerrard being there is that Alonso isn't, and Alonso was better than him. Personally he should still be there though, and Alonso ahead of Kaka.
