Cudicini in possibly 'life-changing' motorbike accident

quote Football365
Tottenham goalkeeper Carlo Cudicini has been injured in a motorbike crash in London.

The Italian was rushed to hospital after suffering injuries described by the police as "possibly life-changing".

Cudicini's BMW superbike was in collision with a Ford Fiesta on Forest Road, Walthamstow at 10.30am on Thursday morning.

Early indications suggest the former Chelsea man is being treated for a suspected broken pelvis.

A police spokesperson confirmed: "A 36-year-old male suffered injuries described as possibly life-changing and was taken to an East London hospital for further assessment and treatment."

A Tottenham spokesperson confirmed Cudicini had been involved in an accident, but were unsure of his injuries.

"We can confirm Carlo Cudicini was involved in a road accident this morning. The club doctor is with him at hospital where we await the result of scans and tests," said the Spurs spokesperson.

"When more is known and things are made clear, a statement will be made through the club's website."

When its described as life changing and a broken pelvis you have to worry for the guy, could be worse than the end of his career

The 'potentially life changing' but I think refers to his wrists also being broken. As a goalkeeper, thats a risky injury.

Not a good week for goalkeepers at all. Hope he's okay. A quality player and a good professional.

My initial reaction: "Holy Crap" At 36 I'd wonder if he'll decide whether to retire or not. Where's the good news in football these days? Get well soon I decree.

Well I'm glad he's alive first and foremost! Carlo's one of my favourite ever players, really hope he recovers although from the sounds of it and considering his age I wouldn't be surprised if he retires

Get well soon Carlo!

Hate to see anyones career potentially brought to a premature end, let alone someone who plays for the team i support and who has been a model professional all his career. Hope its not as serious as it seems, but regardless get well soon Carlo.

re: Cudicini in possibly 'life-changing' motorbike accident

At 36 years old I doubt his body would be able to cope with both recovery and regaining full fitness. Sad to hear. For a while he was one of the best goalies in the Premiership.

Very sad to hear but foremost he is alive and that is the main thing. I wish him the best in recovery and hope that life changing isn´t acturally "life changing".

And only a few days after Enke's death.

Looks like his career is over, definitely sad to hear. Hope he recovers.

Saw an interview with Cech and he said that Carlo was a great mentor, looked after him in that first season taking him around London and that and worked with him on his skills and things like that. Top guy, wish he never left Chelsea tbh.

re: Cudicini in possibly 'life-changing' motorbike accident

No we won't.
Levy already blocked a move, and why would we want to have two goalkeepers who both want to go to the World Cup. It wouldn't work and it would be a bad decision from 'Arry.

On the actual point at hand- It's incredibly unlucky for him, and the best of luck to him in the rehabilitation that he'll go through and I hope that he gets back with the utmost speed possible.

I can't see him playing again, but I guess at this point in time that's the least of our and his worries.

I wonder when the first women driver joke will arise.

Shocked. Couldn't believe this when I was told about it today. Sadly, this could be the end of his footballing career, which is a real shame as I think everyone will agree that he's an extremely likeable footballer and also a very popular character at Spurs. We're lucky to have him as you couldn't ask for a better back-up keeper really. It'll be a wonderful thing to see if Cudicini does ever take to the pitch again.

Get well soon Carlo
