Hope we can get some, if not all of, those players mentioned. We've all but sorted our attack now, and our defence is really what needed shoring up more in the first place. If we can bring a few good defenders in then I really think we could challenge for the play offs this season.

It seem as if Fraizer Campbell is set to turn down Hull and sign for Sunderland.
And Wigan have rejected a bid from Sunderland for Lee Cattermole.

Oh this is tragic. Someone on the Southend message board has just told me that only 3 clubs have failed to sign any players so far in League One. Southampton, Stockport and Us. Southampton and Stockport are in administration so i doubt they will. :[ It's desperate. Especially when you see clubs like Wycombe getting players such as Dubbery and we can't even get a sniff in. :[

We need 6 players, we've been beaten by teams such as Brentford and Wycombe for players that we could've got. We're struggling to put together £50k for one player. We did this last year and ended up not getting the players in until a week before the start of the season meaning that they hadn't played with each other and hadn't gelled giving us a terrible start which wasn't rectified until September. We always do this and up with the rejects that no-one wants. I trust we will find the players but i'd rather have it done sooner, than later.

While i'm very happy with the signings we've made, we desperately need at least 3 new defenders. We CANNOT go into next season with the same defence.

I hope this story is true as we need to stop pissing about with Mills & McKenna and move onto other targets.

^ Definitely agree. Matt Mills (though it seems less and less likely), Daniel Fox and Shaun Barker have all been suggested. I reckon if we could get them three in and have our back line as them three plus Morgan, with the rest of our squad as it is I reckon we could really challenge.

We just have to actually sign these defenders first..

After Jones went to Scunny yesterday, I've a good feeling we'll have a couple of players lined up as there's no way he'd choose them over us if we were seriously interested in him.
