He is worth more to us than his actual value, but from an outside POV, no-one would want to pay more than 5-6m for a 32 year old striker with a poor goals to games record.

His sell on value, and his worth to us will never match.

We missed our last chance to seriously "cash in" on him when we rejected Big Sam's approaches. He'd have probably paid 6-8M for him, for Blackburn.

That window has passed now and we can hopefully keep him until he retires.

Also seeing as his game isn't based around pace, i see no reason he can't continue until he gets to 37/38. He is still in fantastic shape, his workrate is pheneomenal for his age, similar to Gary Speed in those respects.

I would say that they aren't worth more than £7m max between them.

Well as far as re-sale value for Davies I'd say I wouldn't pay more than £1m, but thats because of his age and the type of player he is.

Matt Taylor, I would say maybe £2-3m, and the same for Cahill.

There wouldn't be any point in selling Davies tbh as other posters point out he'll contribute more to you than you could use his fee for another player.

Taylor for me hasn't been impressive since joining Bolton, he's a good player though.

Cahill, well I think his value could increase if he gets into the England squad and I know he's up and coming, but I can't say I'd prefer to splash the cash on him than other potential targets.

Perhaps, because I used to seeing smaller fees for good players in Scotland, I'm a little tight when it comes to money though. I also can't say I follow each player every week, but I really can't see the ridiculous fees being spent for your players. I guess the modern premiership neccesitates inflated fees.

We paid 5M for Cahill one and a half years ago.

He has been the best defender at our club for at least 15 years.

He has been linked with a move to Arsenal for 20M.

He's certainly up there with the Upson's, Jagielka's and Lescott's of the Prem.

Matty Taylor scored 10 goals from midfield last season. For a bottom half team to have a midfielder scoring 10 goals, i don't think you can say is 'unimpressive'

Again we paid 4.5M for him only 1 and a half years ago, so he would be going for double that. Although i don't see him going at all- he is currently discussing a new deal.

Davies could have gone to Hull or Rovers for between 4-6M over the last two transfer windows.


I guess you are right, it could be the Scottish thing where not alot of big transfers go through.

What do people think of Vieri possibly banging it out in the Premiership with Blackburn next season ?

He's 36 now... Still if he can do the job then why not.

He was a quality played back in the day. I used to love him.

Anyway I don't think he has the legs any more, he will find it hard to adapt. He should just retire IMO.
