I watched my first Spanish game in a long time last night, Barca against Racing. Was quite funny how bad the Barcelona defence was.

They have problems all over the place, but the defence is awful at times. I understand Puyol's the heartbeat of the club etc, but he is not a world class defender, Pique still has quite a lot to learn, Dani Alves is far too attacking and Abidal is nowhere near good enough for Barcelona. Then you've got Valdes behind them, who I fully expect to drop a massive howler every game.

According to Marca, Valencia are apparantly on the brink of bankruptcy. Due to the global credit crunch they can't find a buyer for the land that the Mestalla is currently on and they were counting on having finalised a deal for the land already. It seems like their decision to start building a new stadium without selling the old one whilst already being a couple of hundred million Euro's in debt was a really bad one. Who'd have thunk it ? They're apparently waiting to find out if their bank will give them another €100m to keep them going.

Really wouldn't be surprised at a mass clearout in January.
