Liverpool Win Race For Danish Wunderkind

According to the latest news out of Denmark, Liverpool have swooped for Herfolge starlet Nikola Saric, arguably the country's most promising teenager.

The Reds reportedly beat out interest from Tottenham and Barcelona for the 17-year-old playmaker, who is clearly held in high esteem amongst both his club and suitors.

Indeed, Herfolge sports director Per Rud could hardly believe his ears when Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez personally rang up to make the offer.

"'This is Rafa' he said," Rud told the club's official websitet. "I almost thought it was a lie!

"We are pleased and proud that Nikola has gone to one of the world's best football clubs. We would have liked to have earned more money from Nikola but his injury and the fact that his contract expired in the New Year made it difficult.

"Liverpool acted extremely well in all cases and knew all the details," he added. "They have been fair in the process and could've waited until the New Year but they will have him over now."

Saric has been offered a three-year deal and is set to officially put pen-to-paper on the contract before the end of the week.
